I took my 99 24 valve in to get the crank position sensor changed today. First thing the tech sees is my Dyno Sources box wiring. Luckily i wandered in to the sevice bay at the same time and after some BSing i convinced him not to go void my 100K engine warenty. Then he goes and runs the part number for my crank sensor and tells me that it is not covered under the engine warenty. So long story short 180 bucks later im out the door. One other thing when he was away i caught a glimpse of his computer plugged into my truck. It read "turbo boost exceeded" or something along those lines. Is this a result of the extra fuel im shooting it with box. I cant imagine it would hurt the engine because the wastegate should still be the same setting right? ok sorry its so long. i was a little pissed about my 5 hour trip down to the ole stealership!

Just Take It to Cummins

Just Take It to Cummins, thats what my dealer told me when my map/boost sensor went bad. They said just take it to them and we will pay for it. Sounds good doesn't it, well it turns out that the dealer's account at Cummins Cumberland was no good because they refused to pay for someone elses truck and that ment that I could not get mine back unless the dealer paid with cash or credit card. The dealer told me it would be the end of the week before thay could get over to pay the bill and get my truck. But they said if I wanted to pay for it they would pay me back since it was covered under warenty. I went and got the truck and paid the $300 and the next day went to the dealer to get my money and they said that they were not sure if the map/boost sensor was covered under the warenty, they had to send it off to DC and then DC would send me a check. Still haven't seen my 300 bucks.

What goods the warenty when it doesn't cover anything.

i took my 94 to a authorized cummins shop for engine work when it was new. turned out to be just the overflow valve. i had to pay the cummins shop and send the bill to DC to get reimbursed. took a few weeks but they sent me a check. i stated on a note to dc that i had problems and the cummins dealer was the closest place i could get to. i believe that i read somewhere that we can use cummins shops for engine warranty work. if the 01 needs engine work under warranty i will do the same for it

DarrellB, I agree totally. It has gotten to the point where you have to figure on paying for everything yourself, unless you luck-out with one of the rare good dealers out there. Personally, it will be a cold day you know where before I waste my time and money on dealer "repairs. "

Seed guy, what sort of symptoms were you having from your bad CPS?? Did you have any codes? Drivability problems or rough idle? I think mine might be bad, please give is the details :)

Thanks

The syptoms i experianced were, not starting, no tach, and a check engine light. You pretty much know what it is when the tach doesnt work. I never had a rough idle.

dumb question ....

do you not have a boost module ? if not theres your check engine light , tripped by your overboost . what does that box of yours connect to ?

Plastic!!!!!!

Always pay with credit card. Dispute charge to CC company they don't pay, nobody gets paid your truck is still fixed and all is right with the world... ... ..... Pete
