Duramax carnage

All these green revolution products need to stand on their own without taxpayer assistance in the free market. Tax credits, loan guarantees etc. are a crutch.

I read somewhere (don't remember where) that the Feds are paying for first responders to go through special training on how to rescue Volt owners from wrecks &/or fires.

That started back when the Prius was introduced. Most likely, there is an update for the Volt, but it isn't a new program.

In one word, yes. The only thing Chrysler needed to be "saved" from was the plunder by the Germans and then the de-contenting by Bob Nardelli. When Bob Lutz was in charge in the '90's, Chrysler was doing fine.

"Saving" a manufacturer is an entirely different prospect than trying to "make a market" through subsidies, which is what the Volt represents. IMO, it's OK for government to fund basic R&D for solar, wind power and electric cars, but the product has to stand on its own in the market place.

They already know how to rescue people from wrecks- the training teaches them how to do it without being electrocuted.

The failure and rescue of Govt. Motors and Chrysler would not have been necessary if the congressional election results in November 2006 had been different.

What are you complaining about ? You get a $350k car for only about $40k.

With that much subsidy, I wonder why they just dont give them away.

Because there Junk good for the Scrap pile What I want to see is a crash test between a Volt,or anyone of the little hybrid car's and a 2500 or 3500 pick/up I will Gladly supply the spoon to pickup what's left in the aftermath

If you win a car on Wheel of Fortune, you have to pay a tax on it. Why dont chevy volt owners have to pay a tax on the $275k susidy ?
