The ABS is worthless IMO.

Had the left front lock on me last week (yep, one tire -- ABS didn't engage at all). Ruined a brand spanking new Michelin A/S tire ($$$) had only 90 miles on it. Last summer had the front wheels lock up and flat spot both front tires -- didn't even have the pedal pushed in passed the first few feet. Took hitting a curb to unlock them. The ABS (rear) engages on any whim -- or doesn't engage at all. Totally unpredictable.

Here's the problem: on any other vehicle the ABS sounds like a machine gun going off it triggers so fast. On the Dodge's; you can count between resets. It's alteast a full second; maybe more. At 60mph (plus) how much distance do you cover in a second? Too much. The trigger rate on Dodge's is too slow to be safe or a benefit.

And yes; I love my Dodge trucks (wife's is a Durango) but the ABS on both of them is garbage. Maybe if it triggered on milliseconds like every other vehicle on the road.

I for one on happy with my 4 wheel ABS. It has saved me from a couple of accidents. Mine perform flawlessly and i must just be one the few that does. They don't break traction, just pulsate like they are supposed too. Just my . 02 cents.

Mark,

That does not sound right. Not saying you don't have a problem, but last winter I got mine to engage a few times, and they plused much more rapidly than what you are reporting. In fact, I thought they worked pretty good, but then again, I have never had ABS before.

Same as Chris, mine pulses too slowly. Other than the accident I menetioned earlier in this post, I was in snow and ice many times last year. On more than one occaision last year, coming to a stop sign, I applied constant, more than adequate pressure to the brakes. The ABS pulsed, but the auto trans kept enough power to the rear wheels that I wouldn't even slow down. I didn't stop until I put it in neutral. I've had other cars with 4wABS, and this did not happen. I think Dodge just uses a BS ABS system. $. 02

Can't even feel mine pulse

You can't even feel mine pulse at all. The pedal just drops a little and you can feel it buzz and she comes to a stop. I by no means rely on mine but I like that its there.

Coop, you can't blame the ABS for what happened with your auto transmission. Its a known fact to put it in nuetral when you are trying to stop on ice with an Auto. . at least around here it is.

Go drive a GM truck you will love the ABS on the dodges after that

I agree that ABS will be beneficial if you have to perform an emergency lane change with the brake pedal to the floorboard. I have driven other cars that had ABS and it worked very well in all situations. The Dodge ABS just plain stinks on dry rough surfaces. I agree the computer is much too slow to pulse the brakes. Maybe this is another situation where some people have good ABS and others don't. Par for Dodge!!
