I just ordered an Alpine IVA-D900 and I'm anxiously awaiting arrival. Any TDR members out there have this installed in their 3G?? I'm curious if the dash lip over the stereo head unit is going to interfere much with the video monitor. I should have checked this out before I ordered the unit, but leave it to me to think of these things AFTER I've spent the money :D:rolleyes:

Stephen I have the Alpine CVA 800( last years model) It works great. I also have the DVD navigation which is awsome. There are no issues with dash clearance

I'm planning on installing one (IVA-D901, new model) in my truck when it arrives. Along with Nav. and a full system - I can't wait!!! Let me know how you like it...

a must have so you can watch TRUCKS on tv while racing up Jefferson:cool: ... ..... what I wanna know is where ya gonna find a cable long enuff :D Oo. Oo. Oo. really like my Alpine ... ... just don't have the deep pockets to go with the video:rolleyes: still have an eye out for your rig;)

Even if it does, the D900 has a function where the screen can slide out another 10mm. I think you have to hold one of the tilt buttons for about 3 seconds. I doubt you'll run into any problems.

Thanks everyone for the feedback... . I feel better now that there won't be any problems with the monitor hitting the dash.

There's a newer model!!?? The 901 model you mention isn't even on Alpines website. At least not that I could find. Then I looked at ebay and sure enough I found a 901 model, but it doesn't list features. OK... what features am I missing out on that come on the 901 versus the 900??

I shouldn't complain though because I'm getting a really good deal on my IVA-D900 ($850 shipped). Local Discount Auto Sound shop has them listed at $2,300.

I'm getting flashbacks of my initial frustration when i bought my 04' Ram and a week later I find out about the Cummins 600.

Stephen, I have no idea (probably not too much). I didn't even know about it until my install guy told me I would be getting a "901 - that's just the newer model of the D900. " I said "cool" and left it at that.

OK I found it - the 901 has three blue lights instead of the three Alpine green lights. The 900 has 23 watts RMS/50 watt peak x 4 channel. And the 901 has 18 watts RMS/50 watt peak x 4 channel (CEA compliant). I don't see any difference in key features other than that.

Did you find the 900 for $850 shipped off of ebay? Great Price - thats half of what the 900 retails for now.

mklucas, ... thank you for the research. I did a little checking myself and it sounds like for the most part the 901 has a more "updated look". I'm OK with that, because I have an older Alpine system in my truck now and the green lights match pretty good. You can't go wrong with the blue lights either since our dash lights have blue in them as well.

As for the price of my 900 system... . YES, I did buy it off ebay. I've been watching the systems there for quite some time and this is the best price by far I've seen + free shipping/insurance. The unit is brand new, sealed in box too. Most others on ebay are selling around the $1,500-$1,600 area. There's always some risk involved when buying from ebay, but hopefully all will go well with the transaction.

I've been scammed on ebay  :(

As you know from my above posts, I've been anxiously awaiting my "brand new, sealed in box Alpine IVA-D900" to arrive. Instead of receiving the actual product tonight, I recieved an envelope with a disc in it that gives me info on a website that I supposedly register with to be on a matrix list to receive the Alpine system for $100. Yup... that's right... . apparently I paid almost $900 for this bogus informataion thinking instead that I was going to get a new in dash dvd player.

Here's how it happened: I saw the item on ebay and read every word in detail. The ad for the Alpine IVA-D900 said nothing about the auction being for "information", it was specifically for a new Alpine unit. I did notice at the time that there was a notification on the ad that it had been revised. No big deal to me that it was revised, people do it all the time. I liked the opening price, so I placed it in my Ebay "Watch" list - I did not bid on the item at the time, just placed it in my watch list.

A few days later and about 10 minutes prior to auction close, I see that the price is within my budget and decide to put a last minute bid on it. I didn't re-read the ad to notice that the seller re-revised the ad again and added a line stating that the auction is for information that leads to a site to purchase the Alpine for $100 or less. ("Bait and Switch").

The seller had perfect feedback at the time, but I see now that he has received negative feedback for doing the same thing to someone else.

I contacted the seller asking for a refund and as expected, he's basically telling me "tough titty smitty" and that I should have read the fine print before bidding.

I have contacted ebay and making attempts with Paypal as well as American Express in an effort to see if I have any grounds to get my money back.

I feel embarrased telling you all about this. Even the wife gave me "that look" -- you married fellas know "that look" I'm talking about. But I figured I'd share this with ya'll because if it can happen to me, then it can happen to someone else. Just thought I'd share my stupidity with the rest of you in hopes that you don't make the same mistake as I did.

I have seem so many of those for the IVA and the NVE (navigation unit) that I have been really worried about purchasing even the "Buy it now" ones that sound like a real price for the real deal. I'll dedinitely be going with e reputable dealer now.

Really sorry to hear about your misfortune. Keep me posted as to what happens...

Steve,

So sorry that happend. It almost happend to me a few years back on e-bay. I forget exactly what it was I was buying but it was something of the electrnic nature as well. The guy had many great feedback. I got contacted by another guy in Detroit that was waiting for his product too. He got ripped of. I on ther other hand got lucky. To make a long story short, my check bounched. I asked the guy if my fake brother, who happend to live 45 minutes north of him, who also happend to be a North Carolina State Trooper, could pick up my product in person as he was going to be trveling to NJ the following weekend. Many e-mail and fake attempts for my fake brother to meet him. I got lucky. I did send him a few e-mail and told him to watch his back as my brother would be visiting him when he least expected it.

I hope you can get your money back. You did the right thing about telling the TDR members. You probably helped some of us.

Good luck, I guess I have to wait for the pictures huh?

Give us all his address and we will make our next tdr meeting at his house... . The subject of the meeting will be "beat the scammer" If someone did this to me id just have alot of fun with them

Mklucas,

That's the icing on the cake for me. I've seen (and continue to see) all those fake ads to buy "info" where you can purchase the IVA-D900 for near nothing. Having been aware of these ripoffs, I paid extra attention to the advertisement when I added it to my watch list. Unfortunately, the guy changed his description again BEFORE I bid and I did not catch it.

I have written EBay and Paypal. Hopefully, they will help me. Time will tell. There's also a service called "Square Trade" that is like a 3rd party arbitrator. American Express is the card I used to pay for the Alpine, just might be my best help though. They advertise internet fraud protection, so I'll be reaching out to them today.

I've got a long trip to drive in a couple weeks and I was so so sooooooo much looking forward to having the Alpine installed for the trip. I'm driving to Ohio and back twice (10 hrs one way) to pick up my little half sister who I barely know. I figured the DVD player would really help with those awkward silent moments during the long drive back to Virginia. I swear if I wasn't married, I'd go out right now to reputable dealer and buy the Alpine unit just so at least I'd have what I paid for -- even if it cost me an arm and a leg.

Stephen,

if your still set on the unit, go to google and search "Alpine IVA-D900. " You'll get plenty of info and prices. Cheapest I've found so far going that route is $1499, from places like hookedontronics and etronics or such. I'll probably go this route when the 901 is shipped. If you go to your local stereo shop, the BEST they'll probably do is $2000.

And if your not I completely understand. Man, that guy needs to be plowed down with a 3500 dually with a Buckstop on the front!!!

PM me his screen name, I'll leave some negative feedback - at least the other scammers are only asking $10 - $20 for their scam.
