This am/fm/cd player is probably 6 yrs old and has never skipped until recently. And at first I thought it was just a spot on cd. But now it does it on other cds and happens on smooth or rough roads. Bumping it slightly induces skip. I know nothing about why but I will welcome a simple fix if there one:) thks Larry

Try supporting the radio from the back with a "back Strap" its a thin piece of metal which is secured to the dash and the other end to the radio via a screw hole on the deck. Alpine is known for not skipping however your deck is 6 years old. It might be time to buy a new one. Try the back strap and also try a cleaning CD. Good luck... BH

Larry,

Man this has to be first I have ever heard one of theese Alpine units skip LOL! I love mine and have had several of them (Two in each chevy work truck and the origional one from when I found out i was buying the dodge I got the Alpine first) Did you try and tighten he two mounting bolts. If they loosen up the radio sags and bounces off the wiring harness.

Your not playing MP3 copied cd's are you?

They work like crap in the older Alpines that aren't mp3 compatible.

My Alpine is 9 years old and hasn't skipped yet.
