Whoa, from PA to TX, Alpine no less. Alot of open country, mild climate well milder than other parts of the state, lower humidity and if you enjoy hunting and the outdoors it a great place for that. You won't see anymore of those PA winters either, lol.

Alpine, Tx - - - Well you go to the end of the world, turn left and go another 162 miles. Kiddin' aside, its wonderful part of the country, you will probably find it hot from April to November, Dry desert, not to far from Big Bend Nat'l Park. Nearest towns are Ft. Stockton Odessa, Monahans, and Pecos are just up the road apeace, 50 mi. , 115 mi. ,85 mi. respectively. San Antonio id about 275 miles, the Big City! You will probably have to learn some Spanish to get along - - but the TEX-MEX version is pretty easy. I'd like to spend some winters down there, maybe at or near Woodward Ranch (south on 118 about 50 miles) You will have no problems other than severe culture shock, but that will wear off after about five years! Be careful with your diesel truck, tho - - They are a target for overnight export to Mexico. Put a real good kill switch, hidden very well. Keep us posted if you make the move, cause I'll be that way Fall of '09.

Best of Luck

It's a little further than 275 miles!! LoL, It's 308 miles from the outer loop @ Six Flags Fiesta Texas Exit 556 to the US 67 exit (Exit 248); then head south about 45-60 miles. . you have 2 radio stations, 92. 3 KALP, and one other station. . The Crystal (bar) closed down I heard, and now its just the Railroad Blues. . My best friend went to college out there, so I spent lots of time there... The closest Wal Mart is in Ft. Stockton (60-70mi), and the closest malls are in Odessa... If you wanna know more, feel free to PM me. .

Snow? I thought you were still in Southeast Texas! Just went through a major ice storm in Dallas last week, though. :-(
