Hey guys the truck wouldnt start and had it taken to the dealership on a rollback man I thought I would never see that, man what a sad sight that was. But the dealership said that the lifter pump was bad not the injection pump so my question is how do I stop this problem from happening again and is there a better pump out there I sure would appreciate the help thanks alot guys!

I don't think you can stop it from happening again. The new lift pump might be the new latest model but that does not guaranteed that it won't fail again. Do a search on pusher pumps, that is what some are using with some luck so far. Best advise is to check it with a FP gauge often if you are worried. I had a dead lift pump on my 2000 and it kept running just fine. The only way I new it was dead was by checking it with the old Briar Hooper FP gauge. Good luck.

Here's how you avoid the tow-truck ride again.

Install a fuel pressure gauge.

No 24v owner should be without one. You probably would have noticed imminent LP failure with a gauge. That's another reason why we chant GAUGES GAUGES GAUGES around here.

Tons of info about gauges/mounts/reasons/ on here.

I have had my lift pump replaced some 20K miles back. I had already installed a fuel pressure gauge so I knew it was going to die soon. Called the Dealer and told him what I had for symptoms (low fuel pressure) and they replaced it. Had it not been for my gauge I guess I could have been stuck like you. Spend some money on yourself this Xmas and buy some gauges. They make great stocking stuffers and they even offer same day shipping!!!! Yippy-ky-Yah! You wont make the tow truck driver in the Santa suite happy but you won't ever wonder what is going on under your hood.

Andy
