I spent a little time researching the sub encloses out there for the Dodge ram and could find nothing that worked for me. They all seem to want you to remove the rear folding floors which was not a option for me. I found after using my truck for six months I never use the empty space under the center console so I decided this is a perfect place for a single 12 inch subwoofer. The box was built from MNDF and is 1. 20 cf and air tight. I am running a Audiobahn Q 12 Dual voice coil sub rated at 1000 watts rms. I installed a Soundstream Ref 700 to give it 850 watts. I am very happy with this set up and have more bass than I thought I could ever get out of a single 12. Check out my readers rid for the high end.

Looks really good! Did you just build it yourself? Im looking for something similar, although, two 10's under the back seat would rule...

Klockliear, How much did that raise your back seat? I see the spacers. Is it more comfortable to sit back there now that the seat is higher.

I'm never in the back seat so I can't say how comfortable it is. I have been in just to see how the clearance is and it's just fine for normal height people. 3" of lift via 2-1. 5" aluminum sqaure stock.

Ya, built it myself, I had a box with two 12's under the rear seat in my ram gaser. Which is a mild down grade concidering my high school truck had 4 18's in the bed. That's funny with the spacers, I used 3" poly body lifted spacers to raise the back seat on the gaser. I wanted the element of suprise this time. When they ask were all that bass is coming from I say the 6x9's in the doors. :-laf

Scott, I run two 10's under the rear seat, you have to lose the flat floor to get them to work. A friend helped me build the boxes with fiberglass and wood. He has some pics posted on his readers rigs. Here

Cali-600, Nice job! I may have to copy your idea and build one just like it. :-laf

Where did you get that cupholder that is mounted on the console?

Well, Ive seen a couple sub boxes for third gens, that house two 10's facing upward, that go under the back seat. . Very cool, and easier than building something, thats for sure! If I had the tools or skills, Id build it, but its easier to just buy it most of the time. . I believe it is stealth audio, or JBL that has the box Im lookin at.

If you take a look under there are six bolts you remove from the bottom and unhook the power plug th the cig. lighter plug in the console it will come right out. I drove around for a few days with just the buckets.

Well heck, I might as well throw some pics of my homemade, or should I say handcrafted stereo system. I always felt that two 10's wasn't enough so I made my box for four 10's.

And this is what it looks like with the seat in, ( and in the factory location too ).

I have always been a audiophile and really take pride in my systems. I also really enjoy showing it off since very few have four 10's AND STILL have the seat in the factory location. :p

How does it sound with the seat down? Looks like the surrounds would be in constant contact with the bottom of the seat, and possibly the cone at full excursion... cool idea, but I'd probably raise the seat with spacers at least an inch or so...

It does touch on the back half of the speaker at full excursion. That's one of the reasons I chose the woofers I did. There is no better and more durable surround then a betyl rubber surround. Especially on these speakers. In fact it is so thick that it amazed me that the speakers even moved when new. Not sure about the 3rd gens but on the second gens the carpet under the seat just hangs there with like three inches of clearance from the seat itself. No noise comes from it even with a IASCA test disk with a resonance test down to 30 hertz. If I was really concerned about it I could install a set of waffle style speaker grills and be done with it but I always like the option of reaching under the seat and feeling how much excursion I am using.
