A couple days ago there were some post indicating alternators being out of alignment and it sounded like a common problem, but I couldn't find anything in the archives about it. When I put a new belt on last week, I noticed the belt was a couple groves to the rear of pulley and was riding on top of the retaining ring on the pulley. I had the a/c compressor changed a couple years ago and thought maybe the belt was installed wrong. Put on the new belt and it jumped the two groves as soon as I started the engine. Then I thought they must have used the wrong compressor or pulley. What do you guys think? What would be the cure if its just out of alignment with no adjustment feature?
