Can anyone tell me which wire is the ground wire coming out of the back of the alternator on my 02?

It has the main large gauge wire to the stud with a nut, and the plug that has a blue and a green smaller gauge wires.

Thanks

The two small colored wires are from the voltage regulator. There should also be two large wires one is postive other is ground. Just trace them out it should be obvious. If I remember correctly Dodge did not color code so don't assume the black is ground. If you have a volt meter just place the probes on the terminals if the value on the meter comes up negative you have the polarity reversed...

For model year 2002 (and 2001) the 4 gauge Black wire is the alternator output +12 volts.

The 18 gauge Dark Green & Dark Blue are from the field winding and go to the PCM.

I believe you'll find that the alternator is internally grounded.

You know... . I screwed up in telling you that the black with yellow wire was the ALTERNATOR ground. I had just been looking at the alt wiring this weekend to shield it for the OD lock/unlock problems. I just went out (in my PJs)and looked again. The wire IS a ground wire but it isn't attached to the alternator. SORRY..... :{

I am trying to figure out the fix for the O/D problem. Chris

Does anyone know how to shield the ground for the lock/unlock torque conv. issues on an '02 that is internally grounded?

I can not find a ground wire on mine and from the replies, it sounds like it is internally grounded.

Thanks

Eric
