When I bought my truck I checked the bracket. Mine is the wimpy old style, truck was built the month they were changed. Told service dept to replace it. They would NOT until it cracks. Said FINE but when it does you better have it in stock!Bet they DONT.

Bought my truck Oct. 15, so an early build date and i still don't show any signs of the bracket cracking after 36,000 miles. Is it a different bracket on the early 03's or is there others out there who haven't experienced it either?

Well, the replacement part ends with 'AB' and the original was 'AA'.

And Casey Balvert was one of the first TDRist to get his truck last autumn and I got mine early December, both showed the same cracking.

I don't see how there could be a third bracket style for any of our trucks (I know, each of our's so special ;) ).

When you look at the new bracket, the difference in strength is obvious. Knowing how fatigue will break any metal part over time, I don't think it's worth chancing to lose your alternator in the middle of the road.

Be patient. It is free, anyway. :D Dan

I was told mid Janurary 03 was the change from stamp style to heavy cast styel. Mine is a 01/03 and has old style. My friends is 3/03 and is the heavy newer style. Got a neighbor with a 12/02 or such. Has about 60k on the truck. His cracked and the dealer he went to tried to sell him at something like $215. 00. He said B. S. and told them to call the rep. He went home. They called and said they ordered him one and Rep said to take care of it.

13 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have told them to take one off a truck in the lot. No way will I pay so much for anything and have it not function that long.
