My alternator really squeals. Is a rebuild at better option? Or should I just git a new one?

I see Larry B has dem.

Alternator squeal? You sure it isn't the belt? If it is the alternator, get a new one from Napa or the like - skip the Autozones of the world. In auto parts, you get what you pay for - the more cash, the higher the quality the inside materials.

Might want to check out the belt tensioner while yer at it, the bushings are known to turn to powder. . mine did. . almost threw a belt.

from what ive heard you can do the brushes once on an alt, but dunno about bearings.

good luck

If you go to one of the national auto part stores ( Auto Zone, NAPA, Advanced AutoParts, ect. ) make sure you get an alternator rated at 136 amps. Most of these chains use computers showing a CTD using a 120 amp, which is wrong. I just went through this a few mos. ago, the 136 & 120 looked identical, therefore bolted up the same. I got mine at Auto Zone w/lifetime warranty ( as long as I own the truck) for about $160. You might want to change the belt while you have it apart. John :D
