Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Alternator?

Well I have an all new JL audio system W7 13. 5 with a 1000/1 and 450/4 amp. I now have the alt working overtime even with a capacitor. The lock-up is locking and unlocking now when I play it at higher levels. Just wanted to know where and how much for a high output alternator and what are you running and if any concerns? Looking for a direct fit no fab work to make it work?

So turn it down, "what did you say???" turn it down. How do you hear the diesel music if it is that loud? Call DTT and get their noise filter for the transmission issue. Snoking

Some say turn it down some say turn it up but I still need to fine a bigger alt. Anyone? I am getting the noise filter from DTT to.

I got the filter too. I need a higher output alt too, or a stock one to charge at idle. Seen threads on this before, emailed vendors that were suggested. Got back information that they didn't have anything for my application. I carry a spare alt & starter. When I was running my F350 it ate alternators and a couple starters. Figure if I got the parts won't be too bad paying someone to put them in. It's low and I'm too damed old to be crawling under it anymore and don't have room for a shop jack and stands.

You could add a welder. They come with very powerful alternators. I'm running a Premier Power Welder in my Jeep.
