This weekend I hauled cattle to the mountains , elevation approx. 7500,. I pulled a 20 stock trailer loaded with 6 full grown cows, (that weight about 1500 lbs each,) and seven 100lbs calves. The hill I was going up was steep, I had to drop down into second WOT. I was pulling 22lbs of boost and the pyro hit 1150. outside temp was 34 degrees. My father in laws Dodge was pulling almost exactly the same, Hair lighter, but he has a 4:10 rear end. On same hill he never came out of third, or so he said
Would the gearing make this much of a difference ??? And what plate would help, remember I am in the mountains at 5800 feet, summer temps reach about 98 degrees. By the way his truck is a 97, stock, 5 speed 1 ton dually crewcab and still has the cat.
All ideas are welcome !!
