US Gear exhaust brake??

gooseneck hitch

Hey guys I'm looking to pick up a ball mount hitch for my

01 3500 and need a drop to it. I was looking around and

found the Alumistinger all aluminum mounts. I've never

heard of them but they look good and they are said to

be 30% stronger than steel. Anybody had any experience

with them? I'm looking at hauling tractors and may have

1k of tongue weight.

Thanks,

Rob

I have been using the "Rapid Hitch" which is an all aluminum, adjustable hitch with flip over ball made by the same company. I tow a variety of loads and trailers. These hitches look and perform great.

I have one. I use it all the time with a 10k dump trailer. It weights about 4 pounds without the ball. It has held up well with towing. I have had a few people buy them after they have tried mine. I would buy it agian if I lost this one.

Did you guys with the '03s go with the 6 or 8 inch drop? Also I found that this ball mount can be had with either a 1" or 1 1/4" shank size, do you think the 1" will be good enough as that seems to be more common when looking for the mount? BTW, with the amount of drop you went with, does your tongue sit high or low?

TIA.

Hi;

I have the four-inch drop on my 03. With this my trailers are level. I have measured my trailer tongue height. I measured the hitch height to be the same and order it that way. My trailers are set up with 18-inch tongue height. This is to the base of the ball.

The 1-inch or 1 ¼ shank, Depends on what you haul with your truck. The strongest 1-inch I have found is rated for 10k. This is a convert a-ball; it comes with 1 7/8, 2, and 2 5/16 balls. This is what I use. The 1-¼ shank will allow for higher trailer weight I have see a few rated at 12k. There may be higher but I have not looked.

Have a good day

Yes it is. But I have the smaller tires (245 70 17) I may change the drop when I change to bigger tires. But right now the 4 inch drop is working great.
