We live on a private road, therefore we landowners have to pay for road maintenance and plowing.
Hired a local semi retired grader and operator. He knows what to do.
I'm sitting out here playing traffic cop so he can grade unmolested.....

An idiot was hired a few years back and all he did was take the crown off of the road. Ralph is now putting it all back to right. Pulling sod and such away from the ditches first and disposing of it.

There are people who can run a machine, and then there are "operators". I can stand and watch a really sharp operator for a long time.

When it comes to a skid steer, grader or dozer, I am the guy that can just run it, but give me a log loader, log truck or skidder and I am an operator:)

Mike, what model grader is that? Here is a pic of my little Fiat-Allis.

Nick, it's a Champion. Didn't notice the model but I peeked in when he had the side open and it looked like it had a "C" series Cummins in it.

14' moldboard I believe.

A good friend of mine ran a blade for Maricopa County for years and years. He could make a grader whistle Dixie.

My cousin relocated to Ruidoso, NM last year. Called me last week and said he met a guy that runs grader for that county. Got a new Cat 16G this year. Just an animal..he is out with that machine all summer doing county roads.

Interesting thread, thanks for post it. And yes there is an Art to operating a piece of Heavy Equipment.

In NYC, there's a special title for that. MGO- Motor Grader Operator. They're in my local.
We have a few Champions similar- 12' board IIRC and they have 6B's.
