Well, I've searched and looked and tried everything to answer my questions and have found answers to pretty much everything except... how do I adjust the stock torque plate? I understand it's in the inline pump somewhere, but I haven't been able to find any procedure on how to mess with it. For now I just want a little more power.

I don't know that a ton more would do me much good, I'm already having to upshift fairly quickly (Gimme a 6th gear, please.

)
I was able to mess with the AFC star wheel and help the slight lugging after the 2-3 shift (It's not bad if I shift at 2200-2500rpm), just get a little pre-boost smoke that's only noticable if I'm looking right at the exhaust pipe, I can't see it in the rear view.
I may tackle the cat tomorrow to get it overwith, the truck has 127k miles on it so I'll have to do something with it sooner or later.
Oh! More questions from the newbie (Don't hate me, please.

), for many years now I've been using Mobil 1 synthetic in all my vehicles (rebuilt 302 in a '47 Jeep, '98 Jeep, '96 Ford that was just traded for the Dodge, and on and on) and have read that it's ok to use in the Cummins, but is it worth it? I know it is without a doubt in gassers, but how does it compare to Delo or Rotella as far as lubrication and longevity? Bottomline, is there enough of a benefit to justify the 2-3x cost premium? Logic tells me no, even though I'm an avid Mobil 1 user, simply because the engines last nearly forever as it is... but, if I can get 600k miles out of the engine instead of 400k, then I can see the benefit.
Thanks for all the info, this place is great.
