So, I am sick of my work van (98 Dodge Cargo van) and the Ram, well, it needs alot of work and it just doesnt work that well for work being a short bed, SO... am I crazy for thinking about buying a used U-Haul enclosed 24' truck, Probably the GMC L6000 for ~4k bucks, and yanking the 24v/NV4500 out of my Ram and throwing it under the hood and using that for work (construction)? Personally, I would love to take the front clip of my truck, and replace the GMC cab with my QC. But, that would be alot of time and money I am guessing, not to mention the possiblility of DOT nightmares. Which begs another question, would this even be worth it? being that I would be using this for a business, that would mean I would be subject to DOT inspections I am guessing... . :rolleyes: I am guessing i would be lucky to get what, 11mpg with the 24v under the hood? I only get 12 with the van now, and the Ram only gets 16 on a good day... . :{

This is what I am looking at if I went this route...

Cowboy, I've always thought you were a little touched. ;):-laf

Sounds like a neat conversion. You'd have to lose the transfer case and modify your transmission for 2WD I'd think. Other than that and exhaust I don't see many problems.

P. S. - Noticed you changed your avatar.

Check out cumminsracing.com They put a Cummins ISL into a big GMC. It had a Cat but it can be done in your case as well. There is a post on here somewhere about their swap. Shadrach
