Am I the only one that is Upset with this ADD by DC??

Here in the Pacific Northwest - I've seen many Billboards by DC advertising their MiniVans - with the slogan:

"Get's more work done in an afternoon than most husbands!"

No I don't have thinskin - but it really PI__'S me off that it's OK by these brillant folks at DC to take shots at us! We need to write these idiot's and let them know we're "Offended"- Afterall that's what every other group does these days!!!!! And isn't it simply great that the same advertising idiot's that brought us this campaign - will refuse to bring ack the POWER WAGON nameplate! And not on some concept rig as I've seen - Please!

Oh by the way - I placed my displeasure at this site:

That is okay be me. I'm not part of the "most" husband... . In fact, I've never been part of "most" anything. I have my own opinion and values. I think "most" husbands would be driving the mini van instead of their diesel powered Cummins.

It was a bad idea from the start.

Think of what a Public Relations disaster they would have on their hands had they said, "Gets more work done... than most Wives"

or "Gets more work done... than most Inner City Slum Dwellers. "

or "Gets more work done... than most Welfare Recipients. "

Men, expecially Married White Family Men are the targets of choice today, by those who want to drag down America, and very few people care to defend us.

When I was a boy, (I'm 56) the job of "Becoming a Man" was portrayed to me by my Father, and by the farm community I grew up in, as a difficult, yet potentially glorious Ordeal. I understood it as a task I was honor-bound to complete. (Ok, ok I'm still working at that one!) Sadly the Liberal Media has taken the lead in cheapening the meaning of Fatherhood, Marriage, and being a good Husband, and the U. S. is a poorer place because of it.

rrausch

You hit the nail on the head my friend... ... and it sounds like we're two pea's in a pod - down to the upbringing.

Ever heard of "The Men's Bank"?

Ever heard of "White businessman of the year?

Ever heard of "The Men's Collge"?

Ever heard of "White entertainer of the year"?

The situation is so bad, that even my questions are politically incorrect and will probably be deleted.

I don't know why, we're a minority now.

Its not just DC, if you watch TV you will see men portrayed as idiots at about a 10 to 1 ratio over women, and its just not white men. Commercials seem to be the worst.

What is it that we arnt supposed to call the dealers because it hurts their feelings? Too bad it doesnt work both ways.

I have to agree with you all. We're the only group they can shove around and not have the ACLU bums breathin' down their sorry necks!!!

Here we go

It amazes me how the well being of this land rides on our backs and we are the brunt of such chastisement.

By that I mean ... we are taxed to death. The profit margin on the things that we consume daily are a damn shame, Over worked (70+ hours a week). Our wives and kids (and government for that matter), depend on our livelihoods, mental state, and health. (I could go on but ya'll get the idea). Yet we are consistently belittled, beat up and criticized by the main stream media, and the corporations that we patronize. ( Just think... What if we all where just like Homer Simpson?) If you not a queer, a liberal, or a contributor to the N. O. W (National org. for Women), You are a target.

Sorry, I'll shut up for now... . But this hit a nerve

No doubt the ad is targeting women. Most mini vans I see are driven by women, you know the soccer mother types. I see nothing wrong with it.

"Get's more work done in an afternoon than most husbands!"

I think some of you are blowing it way out of proportion.

A 1 hp single cylinder lawn mower engine can out work any of us.

A four cylinder van can do more work in an afternoon than any of us could do in a month.

I guess my only point

is that we've sat on our fat behinds to long and allowed this to happen. OK - nobody loves a joke more than me - but JUST try and make a joke about any other group than the majority of us - and see what happens. We'd better start trying to help our kids - boys and young men - or else it'll get even worse for them. I'm tired of it - either knock it off - or attack everybody equally - and you know the answer to that. And as long as we don't start YELLING - it'll get worse! We're our own worst enemies... .

I guess the lack of the powerwagon label bothers me more than the male bashing. I've got a 55 and 80 powerwagon and sure wish my 99 had the same badging from DC... . Some day it will return...

As to the male bashing. Look at many TV shows, advertising in all media, etc etc. The poor writers have to thread the politically correct needle so bad that the only thing left to make fun of is.....

You guessed it... ...

I doubt one will ever see a line of dodge trucks driving around the washington DC to protest male bashing. I will have to take some comfort in knowing that as a while male I can do something politically correct, that being the butt of a joke... .

Remember, us 'males' are not supposed to be emotional so we make perfect politically correct targets for that kind of thing.

Hammersley, you have every right to your opinion are not wrong for being offended. It is a problem that not enough folks care about to change it.

We have many women in the TDR and who knows, for fun one might discuss this thread with a friend and another and another..... The advertisers are winning because this thread gives the add more run time with zero cost.

Perhaps living in rural billboard free vermont I don't see enough of it to be upset or perhaps I accept it more than I should.

Regardless, I am still more concerned about seeing that PowerWagon label back on our trucks...

Jokes about men have been going on for a long time. It's not a recent thing at all. I really don't see anything to get worked up about. A lot of the old comics were like that. Bring up Father with Maggie and Jiggs. The Katzenjammer Kids and the Captain. Snuffy Smith. Dagwood Bumstead. There were a lot more like that. Radio shows like Fibber Magee. The old TV shows like I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, Archie Bunker, etc, etc,... What would it be like to be a member of a group that yelled for their civil rights lawyer every time they heard a joke that offended them? No thank you.

I may be a voice of one but I do two things very carefully to get my message across to those who won't listen...

1. ) Use my purchasing dollar wisely. .

2. ) I VOTE
