I just had my oil and fileter changes with a lube at my local (Elverson ) dealer.

I was amazed that at $59. 00 and i was in and out in 30 minutes tonight.

I dont think I can do it for that price or that i want to do it for that price

I had my oil changed at Glenn Thomas Dodge in Long Beach, CA the week before Thanksgiving for $42. 00. And they washed my truck before they returned it to me. No coupon or special I am aware of. On my '96 I either changed it myself or bought the filter and oil and took it to Walmart. At this price, I will go back.

It costs me around $30 to change my oil. Filter is about $10 and oil is $7 a gallon.

I was doing diesel oil changes a bit when I worked at Sears and that was $40. Was making $10 commision off each on too cause Sears normally didn't do diesel changes (too much hassle... not part of the employee training, etc), but I said I would do them. . even the big Winebagos.

My dealer... dishman in Spokane will do them for 29. 99 all the time. . and they say just pull in. . for a quick lube and oil change... except the 5 times I've tried it... its always an hour or hour and a half so I never stay... . I end up at a lube center who does all my trucks... 3 of them have never been done by anyone else...

I had a chat with the owner... said I wasn't interested in a discount... but wanted better care and custody of their work... . so the bill ranges from 32 for my car, to 59 for the Dodges... . I EXPECT an accurate report of the FACTS and often have questioned them myself after watching... . and have them redo or recheck to be sure... . I also told the owner. . you strip off a pan drain plug and I expect a new pan...

The 00 F550 now has 375K miles,,,, the 01 3500 Dually 300K miles, the 04 is at 170K miles and new baby 05 3500 dually only 34K... . my personal driver ... .

I did wal-mart once... and never again... . and a couple of other places one time only. . and PIS* on the driveway of JiffyLube after their screw ups.....

BTW I only do them every 7500 miles,, and carry in our air filters... .

Chrysler sells coupon books for oil change/lube through the dealers. The 12-coupon books cost $250 for diesels. That amounts to ~$21 per oil change/lube. Better price than I could do myself and I don't have to crawl under my truck in the mud. Jeff

Yeah when I bought my new 06 I bought the oil change book, 7yr 28 oil changes for 650... . cheaper than I could do it myself.

this is a special they got going on right now in our area. I get flyers every once and a while and I saw it listed.

Dealers and Techs always go to battle over doing oil changes. The tech can't make much money changing oil if they are flat rate so the dealers end up getting someone new to do the oil changes. The point the techs don't realize is once its on the lift you quick walk around and look at the brakes, exhaust belts, etc. When I had my shop, around 30% of our work was sold to customers that came in for just an oil change. If your honest, customers coming in for scheduled maint. are happy when you find stuff like there brakes are almost shot, or hoses are ready to pop, etc.

Seems like a good price, but for me even if it was free I would not have a dealer or spiffy lube type place change it, too many horror stories of under-fill, over-fill, stripped drain plugs, double gasketed oil filters, oil cap left off, wrong oil put in, ect... Last time I went to the dealer I was asking about a transmission filter for the 48re, the head parts guy kept correcting me saying it was a 47re, he had never heard of the 48re, impressive.

My dealer, Helfman Dodge in Houston, has been doing Cummins Oil/Lube for $26. 95 for over a year now. I just can't even think about doing it myself when I can drive in anytime and drive out 30 minutes later for under $30 including tax.

It's not worth it to me to change my own oil.

Triangle Dodge my local dealer does my oil change and lube for $25. 00. They supply the filter for about $10. 00 and I supply the oil. After 3 times the 4th is free. They also rotate tires for $15. 00

Wow... for that price I might let someone do it. Too bad there are no places around here that I know of that will change oil and filter that cheap. :(

I THINK I CAN BEAT ALL OF YOU MY LOCAL DEALER DOES IT FOR $17. 95 AND I SUPPLY THE OIL. WHICH COMES FROM OUR FARM WHERE WE BUY IT IN BULK AND RUNS US ABOUT $3 A GALLON FOR ROTELLA. :-laf
