I received this email this morning from a "long time listener, first time caller" who noticed that I have an amber fire painted ram.

JWGARY

Saw your sig on TDR and noticed that you have a amber fire Ram. I just
wanted to let you know that Chrysler discontinued this color sometime around
the first of the year but the District Rep told me they made these for a
short time in the fall only. I wanted this color and I was going to order a
new Sport this spring and so I had them try and locate and there is nothing
out there by the dealers locate abillities. The dealer then called the
district rep and they said there was only one Sport in that color in the
entire country and it was in Denver so I'm headed out to pick it up Friday.
I haven't joined TDR yet but I wonder if anyone knows this or knows how many
were built this year. You may want to post the question sometime.
Anyway you have a very rare color there in terms of production.

Thanks

I guess I will have a real colector's item if DC decides to can the cummins too. Does anyone know if I will still be able to get paint and stuff like that for touch-ups? I want to thank the members of the TDR for keeping me informed while I was buying my truck and letting me know that this color was available for the rams when I had mine built. Y'all are the best!

Hey JWgary,
Funny you started this topic cause on the way to work this morning on I-84 in CT I saw this 1500 sport in a color I never saw before and it looked awesome... ... ... . it was that burnt orange you described. It also still had the dealer temp. registration in the window. Maybe this one was the last 1500 to squeak out with that color.

I'd really like to know how many trucks were made with this color. Lot's of people say how they like the color of my truck. (I guess burnt orange is a little more popular in Texas than other places though) I have seen two or three Dakotas (two of them might be the same one) and two other rams this color. The Jeep dealer I passed every morning before I moved had two jeeps that sat there for a while that were also A-F. The best use of the color I have seen was on a Prowler... very cool. Maybe it wasn't selling like DC had hoped. I wish it had done better.

I'm still waiting to see this color on a Ram. It's one of the colors I wanted to look at when I bought mine, but they didn't have one on the lot. Funny that they discontinued it a already.

Yeah,if you have a rare color Ram then hang on to it because it is that much more special and when other folks look at it,it appears to be different from the norm.

At the beginning of 1999 I ordered a Cummins 2500QC long bed 4x4 in Deep Amethyst which is the dark purple metallic color. That was the most beautiful and one of the rarest colors to own in a truck. I only kept it for 9 months then got rid of it when the 6spds came out for 2000(and now I have a color 20,000 other people have). Stupid me,I'm still kicking my self for letting it go. I get jealous whenever I see an Amethyst truck on the road. #ad

There is a 1/2 ton Amber Fire sport 4x4 that's been sitting in my dealers lot for several months. The sales manager said that the district rep kinda forced it on him. Evidently nobody likes it and they are still trying to figure out how they are going to sell it.

Funny how things work that way...

I never saw a Ram in this color, but I did see a Dakota. Ford had a similar color too. Everyone has their own taste. I kinda like the bright yellow.

Only time I've seen the A-F is on a neon at work... I did see a V-10 in amethyst over driftwood... some diamond plate accessories, looked sharp.
