"BREAKING NEWS
Towable Builder Ameri-Camp Ceases Operations

Towable builder RV Manufacturing Enterprises LLC, dba Ameri-Camp, has closed its doors, according to a memo to suppliers from President Michael Bajaillia.

"It is with sincere disappointment that we write to inform you that, due to economic conditions, Ameri-Camp is forced to cease its operations," said Bajaillia's Oct. 20 memo. "Unfortunately, the company has no available assets to pay toward its unsecured creditors.

"We sincerely regret the impact this has upon your business and assure you that we would have avoided this situation had there been any way possible. "

Ameri-Camp was founded in June 2003 by a group of former Carriage Inc. employees, and did well into its second full year – even capturing the 2003 and 2004 Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association's Dealers Satisfaction Index (DSI) Award for delivering top-rated low- to mid-priced travel trailers and fifth-wheels to the company's then-growing dealer network.

The company went bankrupt, however, and in April 2005 was acquired by Fred Hassan, the Florida-based owner of the Sun Coast chain of RV dealerships in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Indiana.

Efforts to contact Hassan to confirm Ameri-Camp's closing were unsuccessful. "

That's too bad since I own one, but I never went to them for warranty work. Mine is a 2006 F270RKS Summit Ridge and have had no issues with this 5er. I would buy another 5er from Ameri-camp again, if they were still in business. I think they make an excellent camper with a high quality of fit and finish. Again too bad they could not weather the down turn in the market.

I was wondering, is there a list out there that has all the RV manufacturers that have closed from this economic downturn?

The names have been posted here.

The ones that I can think of easily are Travel Supreme, Alfa Leisure, and Western RV which was Alpenlite, I think. Extreme, Americamp, Weekend Warrier, and National RV, a motorhome manufacturer that was the first to fail. Others can add to the list.
