Going to buy an SUV. Which one??

New NTSB report

Did anyone see "The Great Biker Buildoff" lastnight? I recorded all 3 because I knew I wouldn't be able to watch it while it was on.

Indian Larry is by FAR my favorite out of the guys choosen. I really like the old school style a LOT better then most of the others. The thing that REALLY set it off was the seat!

I think they should do a Jessie v/s Paul SR. episode of this show.

Andrew

On Edit, I found a whole page with Vinnie on the D/C webpage. It has sound clips of him answering some questions. Cool if you got a second to kill. Here is the link

Larry

Indian Larry is my favorite to. His Panhead was just too cool. I liked the fact he still laces his own wheels, this is not done very much anymore. :D

I think they should have them all build one for a major build off. Has anyone seen Hotrodder yet? It is supposed to be on soon.

Yeah, I saw American Hot Rod the other night. They sure have a sweet facility but I was fairly disappointed in the show itself. Nothing like American Chopper. Boyd Coddington big name in the street rod world tries to act all bad ass like Big Paul but it's so staged that it's lame. But just my opinion.

Gotta disagree with you, Andrew... :) I like Indian Larry the person, but his bikes are outdated(to me, taste-wise), gotta love the man's talent, and experience, though. The '78 SuperGlide I had for 4 years during my college life in Rochester, NY , would fit the definition of old school, but I still like the new bikes much better. I want a comfortable ride in my old age. :D

Other than the Bourget "Low Blow" bikes and the "0-Gravity" from Orange County Choppers, I like the one Jesse James built for his ride to Sturgis.

Check out www.amenmotorcycles.com Love their stuff. My scoot was built with one of their original Amen "Savior" frames. :D

Myself

Myself, I would like to see something else besides choppers being built. Maybe follow a Ducati racing team for one season, or the Vance and Hines drag team. Even a top fuel race team for a season. Chopper builders are a dime a dozen, there are everywhere, some are very talented, granted, but enough... :D

I did notice a trend though in the winners of the Bike build off. The guys who win, have the most Tattoos... . :D

Kickin,Got agree with you boyd is a putz. The man has folded so many times and left someone else holding the bag it is sick!

I was not impressed with Coddington either. Has anyone seen that show "Rides" that is on occasionally? They did one on Chip Foose. Excellent. That Grand Master had me drooling.

CF, your not likely to see a change in the venue. American Choppers is Discovery Channels number one show right now.

Jesse James

Did anybody catch the West Coast Choppers episode this past weekend (I forget the day), where he, Indian Larry, and 2 others made the Sturgis run? Did you notice the support vehicle for the team? It's a 2wd, ex-cab, 3500, Cummins! White with a white cap, and red/orange flames up over the hood and down the doors. The trailer matches, too. I've always liked Jesse James, but now I really like him, and his non-chopper modes of transportation Oo. :D

The scoots are trick at OCC, and The Build Off Bikes are all sweet lookin. BUT, I would like to see them boys do a 16 hour day on any of them. I ride a bagger, my back wouldn`t take a rigid or a softail anymore. Used to have a chop, but got old.

I agree with Briar! I too like that Bike Jesse built for his ride to Sturgis (sans the Jockey shifter).

Although I like the bikes Jesse James builds as well as the "Theme" bikes OCC builds (especially the stealth Comanche bike!), my favorite are the Bourget bikes! That bad a$$ polished aluminum frame with the intergral oil cooler is absolutely first class! And forty-six cnc machines turning out all those trick custom aluminum chopper parts! It gave me goose bumps looking at that state-of-the-art shop! Other than being located in Arizona, I'd just about do anything to be a part of that operation!

I remember when we used to produce very trick parts here at Boeing. I guess we (I) still do, but it's just forced enthusiasm to even want to help out a heartless POS company that's he!! bent on decimating its enterprise piece by piece. Bill Boeing is probably rolling in his grave right now!

BTW, I was also extremely impressed with Choppers Inc. Although more primitive in their execution of fabrication (remember, I think Bourget is the way to build the trickest bike), you can't knock the ability.

Just another comment...

I saw the Boyd Coddington hot rod show the other night (for the first time). I liked the show better than most other things on the air, mainly because I have strong respect for the talents of all the individuals at their craft. As entertainment, it was lacking. And exactly how many Hawaiian shirts does Boyd have anyway? He was wearing a different one EVERY TIME he was shown.

Also, a past post I read and now have a comment on...

the seats on the two bikes Indian Larry built for the build-off were absolutely breathtaking! That is near and dear to me because my grandfather was an expert hand tooled leather artist when he was alive. I was blown away by the quality of his finished product (motorcycle seat) having not seen any "real" quality like this in many, many years.

BTW, on American Chopper, I too have seen every episode, some numerous times (I guess I wish that I could be part of something great too)... I really thought Tony was one great guy! Why? Simply, because he puts up with a lot, makes the best of every situation and exercises complete control when dealing with others. His dealings with that "hack" in the episode where they had the seized Comanche gear was absolute testament to his stellar professionalism. After several warnings to that moron about being careful of the frame and I would have probably forcefully removed said moron from f-ing up anything else!

American Chopper is the best show on T. V. right now.

It has to be one of the highest rated cable shows out there.

I want to see big Paul kick some a--!

Yeah, the Commanche bike ruled!! It could have used a turbo though!

The Boyd "Beach Boy" Coddington show is lacking.

It is a good show, I will watch it.

But there is no Paul Sr. calling anyone an Idiot! or threatening to knock them in the head with a steel pipe (quality TV!).

I guess the guys at the Coddington shop need to grow a little personality, heck I'll give them a chance.

We've only seen one show.

I still like the stuff coming out of Choppers Inc. You got to had it to Billy for finding a way to make a hubless rear wheel. I wouldn't know where to start on something like that. I also like the way he scrounges for parts, refurbishing old stuff. Pretty much a rat bike.

Where and when do these shows come on? I have caught a few of the American Chopper series, but have never seen the West Coast show, or the biker build off. Where are they?? Thanks!

Robin

Best line.....

I liked the part in the show when Bourget admitted he had a 'serious boating problem'.

That company he owns is pulling in some SERIOUS paper... . did anyone happen to notice his floating stock?!

Matt

Yes I did Matt! I would be willing to bet the paint job on that red off-shore boat of his was somewhere in the neighborhood of what I paid for my Ram!!!!

Absolutely friggin awesome!

They even stated he had three of them... I'm not sure if that meant he currently owns three of them or he has owned three different ones. One thing I do remember, 1,200 HP per engine x2 was pretty well etched in my mind! As was the top speed of 140 mph!

I also thought that hubless rear wheel was absolutely mind blowing trick&sup2! I was going to comment on it in an earlier post although, I couldn't remember who had come up with that idea. Billy Lane... thanks for the info.
