Am I going to be ok with bigger injectors?

I have a 98. 5 with a PM2. I just ordered a remote for it that will make it a PM3 adjustable down to stock power. I have a south bend con O. I need to stay under 900 pounds of torque total and under 700 pounds while towing for the clutch to hold up. I will be able to turn down the remote when towing. Question is what injector will I be ok with. What will a DD3 and a PM3 make for torque? Anyone that has dyno'd this care to let me know? I am sure I can back the PM down enough while towing since the PM3 rating is 360 pounds or torque. I just need to know if I can go with DD3's or should go with DD2's. If i am going to spend the money I want to do it right the first time. I am still using the stock turbo with a straight through muffler, just get used to watching the temps. Towed 28,000 gross a few weeks ago and had no problems keeping it under 1250 even from stop light to stop light pushin it pretty hard and keepin up with traffic, just had to take it easy on the throttle. I have had my pump wire tapped for almost 80,000 miles with original pump, and ran with a totaly dead lift pump for at least a month, and that was 40,000 miles ago. Didn't catch it until I changed the fuel filter, took care of a bad stumble at full throttle. Must of got a good pump. Thanks for any help

I am very interested to hear opinions as well. I have a 2000 with a 6spd and a powermax 3 adjustable. I want to add injectors and obviously a new clutch. I wanted to add a turbo as well, but I have an exhaust brake currently and do not feel like changing all of that. I am not looking for crazy power, but more is always nice. DD2s, DD3s, which clutch, and so on. I do not drag race, but do tow and like to get up to speed pretty quickly. thanks

The injectors alone can make quite a bit of power even with the box turned down. It seems that if you slip the clutch once, then its over. At least thats what I found. The 3's will make quite a bit more power than the '2s. If you don't think you can control your foot, then you might want to go with the 2's or even less. If you are a horse power junkie like everybody else, then go with the 3' as you will be upgrading to them later. I would be willing to be with the box on and the2's you will be able to slip it pretty easily. I guess its a matter of choice and self control. I made 310 RWH and 700 Torque on injectors alone (similar but slightly less than a DD3).

Good luck.

Dennis

Dennis, I see that you have a con O, 115 hp injectors, and a comp. box. Your injectors are bigger than dd3's, and both boxes are about equal. Have you had any problems with that combo? I do have the same clutch as you. Thanks,

Tony

Tony, Dennis has the ETH (6 speed) Con O. This clutch is rated to 350 hp and 750 ft/lbs torque ( MU1947 Con O). The Con O for the 5 speed is rated to 400 hp and 900 ft/lbs (MU0090 Con O). Great clutches. Good luck! Phil :D

If you can lift the throttle when it gets hot get the DD III's. is there anyone elso who drives the truck? Will he/she treat it as you do?

See my sig. I started with 275's and now NEED DD III od EDM's mach 2.

I'm experimenting with a 35/14 turbo because of smoke/spool-up.

I/m trying to talk myself into the mach 2's and going back to the hx40/16. I do not have any heat issues with it just spool-up.

I actually think MPG was better with the hx40. Less restiction. I am POSSITIVE the top end charge is better with it!!

Since you can adjust the box for smoke/heat issues go bigger.

Just becareful who drives it!

I am already used to backing off while towing when EGT's get high, so that is not a problem. I am the only one that drives the truck also. Any cheap and easy options for the turbo, different housing of upgrade? Won't be doing anything for awhile with that, just curious.

Thanks again

Tony

dam things don't even hold up to the stock injectors, far as I'm concerned, do the transmission first. JMHO

Cheers,
