A story with a moral

Anyone else having trouble finding . 380 ammo? No one close to me has any and most places online are out as well, whats the deal?

Vary Popular cartridge right now. Try Dallas Reloading Service: 1(972)-279-9269 They make their own ammo, and are often set up at the Gun shows. They sell it in bulk if you want to buy a lot of it.

I have had 75 rounds of hornady critical defense . 380 on order since May 21, 2009. (Cabela's) I ordered 1200 rounds of . 40 s & W at the same time and got it the last week of Dec. I left it on order just to be a shear pain in hind end. The supply is getting a little better around here. I need some more . 380 just for target practice.

If you're in the Illinois area, you might try Chris Cochrane at CJ Sporting goods.

CJ's Ammo

You can order off their website, but the guy's been pretty good to me. Shipping will eat you alive. If you're going to buy bulk, he'll cut you a deal, too. Shoot him an email or call. Tell him Casey Harrington sent you, if you would please.

God bless,

Look online b/c there are lots of places to order from if your state will allow delivery via this method. I live in NV and it allows this method and I rec'd 500 rounds of new 40 cal form my XD.

I was able to find some Win white box. 380 at Sportsman's Warehouse. I got 100 rounds and plan to reload. The Reno Cabelas has several flavors of PDF ammo but it's pricey. Also, the reviews on Herters and some of the other cheaper ammo have not been good.

It (and most other calibers) have been hard to come by since right before the election. I did get an email from ammoman.com last week saying they got a shipment of 380 in, usually doesn't last long but worth a try.

I have had some back ordered from Cabelas since last Nov. I have however found a box of original Black Talons in 380on the net and Some 380+ps most places are really back ordered I think to the popularity of guns like the Ruger LCP and Ammo for My Judge 45 LC is hard to come by and crazy expensive, 410 ammo is rare also.

Search the ammo section of Gunbroker.com. You can usually find any caliber you need in lots of different types quantities and prices. There is the caviat of being able to ship to your door depending on where you live.

I was at a National Gun Show this past weekend in ATL.

You may want to try Georgia Arms, Inc. out of Villa Rica, GA

Good people to do business with.

I have heard all the excuses for ammo prices, but it really comes down to the ammo companies getting greedy. Why on earth would they produce more ammo at lower prices when they have a monopoly and are making the biggest profits in industry history right now by producing less? They learned well from the Big Oil companies when hoarder sales skyrocketed after the last election.

Thing is, sooner or later the hoarders will either have what even they consider "enough" or they will be broke, too.

In the meantime, the traditional backbone of the ammo market, sport shooters such as trap, skeet, and other competition, are being forced to either cut way down on participation or even just quit entirely. A large part of the sport and market may be lost eventually due to ammo producer greed.

Even reloading is horribly expensive. I can only be thankful for my still-cheap-to-shoot bow as my own guns suffer extreme disuse. But I still have sons competing in High School Trap Shooting. Reloading 12 ga target loads now costs $5 per box!! And that doesn't include the price of any hulls or the reloader itself. And 100 rounds apiece per week is minimal for their practicing. That's $40 every week just for reloads!
