Okay... For the last 9 years, every time I change oil in my Dodge, I have put 12 quarts in for a filter & oil change. It is right to the top of the full mark on the stick. Well... now I spent a few bucks on a Haynes Manuel for our 3rd gen. Dodges, and it states 11 quarts!

I did a search, because I have seen something on this subject before. But I got articles from changing the oil in the transmission to doing it in the power steering pump!

Sooooo is it 11 or 12??

THANKS!!

Don't take this wrong... . In my opinion, Haynes manuals are garbage. I personally only trust the factory shop manuals. 2nd gens took 11 quarts. 3rd takes 12.

Motorhead, oh I agree with you... this didn't cost much, and the thought was it could be a quick help for a few things, if you know what I mean. I read thru it a little last night and I don't think I would want to use it for a complete reference. And as for oil, I remember my 2nd gen taking 11, as I usually had a quart left over in the jug for the next time!

So me thinks, I'm sticking with 12...

The "Common Rail" Engines(2003 thru current 6. 7's) do take 12 Quarts. The 12 & 24 Valve engine takes 11 Quarts.
