These are the ones I installed from ebay .

I auditioned the line above it, which is about twice the price, but it didn't sound enough better to justify the cost. The reference line below it even sounded pretty good, but once I saw the ebay price I figured the PCE is the best bang for the buck. I was thinking about putting some RCE's in the rear doors, since I'm only running them at ~10% volume anyways.

By the way, I found the best place for the crossovers was up inside the dash behind the golvebox for the passenger side, and on the backside of the knee panel on the driver side. The passenger one is a B***H!

I think if you're not going to add a sub you're pretty much wasting your time. Of all the things lacking on a factory stereo, REAL bass is at the top of the list.

Make sure you use an aftermarket deck with preouts too. I tried the high input thing once--never again. The sound was very, "Dirty". Got a kenwood deck with three sets of 4. 5 v preouts, all is well now.

Aint it the truth Throw away all the factory stuff and start over with something that has some real sound. I installed a Pioneer premier comp deck with Rockfoord Fosgate competition Speakers Audiobohn Sub with a custom enclosure that fits under the rear seat passenger side 3 Fosgate competion amps. Sounds great I did all the installs and have less than 2k invested

Hey hey. . to each his own, don't knock the guy. It sounds better than stock at least. :)

I know, I had good intentions. I actually have Rockford Fosgate subs, but I paid $20 for them in high school and they work decent so I still have them.

I'm not huge into audio although I love loud music. I'll likely be doing more research before I put a stereo in my Dodge as I intend on keeping it for a long time.

A few years ago I bought a Rockford Fosgate amp. That was a mistake and I took it back... . I have Eclipse and Alpine now... they seem ok.

Can't complain about those brands. I love Eclipse head units, but their amps seems only marginally better than "store brands". Of the 10 or so brands of amps that I've auditioned, I've only really liked JL and Zapco. I picked JL because to me it sounds almost as good as Zapco but less $$. I got my 1000/1 used off of craigslist for $500. There's no way I'd pay the $999 retail... which is what the Zapco I wanted costs on ebay (ck9. 0). Everyone has a different level where their pocketbook and ears compromise, but as long as you're happy with it, cooool. BTW, I remember my first "good" stereo install... sony 50x4 and Infinity Kappa speakers. At the time, I thought it sounded awesome, but now it makes my ears cringe just thinking about it. Just remember to take your time and do the install right, and don't get the good stuff until you're ready to never be able to listen to anything else. ;)

I won't own anything from a place like JL. Overpriced if you ask me.

There will be a stereo buildup thread when I get my new truck which should be soon. I want to make my ears bleed in my new truck for under $1500.

Good choice!

Good choice!. Why not make use of the space behind the rear seats in the cab. See my own sound system details in the sigfile below.

That's very easy. Loud is cheap. That's why companies like Audiobahn exist. Decent stuff, but not the same as JL or Zapco or Xtant or ... . Quality costs $$. It's like a Ferrari versus a Corvette... you get a lot more bang for the buck with the vette, and it might even be faster, but it's not a Ferrari. A Ferrari might be a waste of $$ for one person, whereas another might have the means to have several. I have the means to buy good audio equipment, so I do. It used to seem like a waste, but now it seems worth it. Just like some people would say about buying a $50K CTD truck. :D As long as you like it, that's all that matters. BTW, you could get JL amps and still have a whole system "that will make your ears bleed" for under $1500 if you know where to shop. :)

I'll be contacting you when the time comes. I had some Kicker stuff in mind along with a few other goodies but it remains to be seen. I've been real happy with Alpine as well.

Between a Ferrari and Corvette, even if the Ferrari was cheaper, I'd still rather have the 'Vette. Guess it's just the way I am.
