Am currently using a nice set of "ATS Edge" running boards on my 2010Laramie Crew Cab, but seriously need to make it easier for my wife to get in and out. The Edge steps I have sit close to the cab and not that easy get a good solid step. Furthmore even with the step it is a long ways to the ground for her.

I steered away from the AMP retracting step when I bought the truck because of the cost, but find the price seems to have come down a bit.

Anybody out there have experience in using the AMP Research retracting step?

Thanks.

I put mine on last year.

TOP QUALTY... design and build.

They put a smile on my face EVERY time I open or close the door.

The led lights also now come included in the kit.

If you can afford them, you won't regret it...

FYI-- the extensions that drop the step down another 2" also keep the step from retracting fully, so if you don't absolutely need them, don't get them.

I've had them about 5 1/2 years and have no regret about the cost. They failed to operate just once, when temps were well over 100*. Never happened again. Spacing of the step between the truck and ground is far better than any rigid steps I've ever stepped on. Even my friend, a lady with an artificial leg, makes it in and out easily. They are completely out of sight with the doors closed.

Very easy to self install and trust me they are very nice and they will hold weight I'm not your Average guy @ 7 ft tall n 350 lb's and I never worry about the step failing took about 2 hr's to install and well worth every penny you spend on them

How exactly do these running boards fasten to the truck?

What does the wiring consist of?... . Was always curious about these but never saw any except for some HD trucks:-laf(Harley Davidson)

Thanks

The supplied hardware fits into existing holes in the back of the rocker panels. Some of hte holes are covered by tape from the factory. You just count to the right hole, remove the tape, and insert the hardware, which then tightens down with a nut. You DO have to drill for a pop rivet at each bracket, but it is for alignment, not strength. I put silicone on the back of the rivet head before inserting into the hole rivet s that it would seal up and prevent rust, but it was likeley overkill. The wiring harness and controller are all wire loomed, zip ties provided also, and you just follow the instructions to lay them out.

SUPER EASY to install, really well designed and made, but I already said that.

Just ordered the AMP Research Running Boards on line, through the AMP Research Web site. They have nocked nearly $600 off the running boards and are offering free shipping. Total price for 2010 Ram 2500 ended up at just under $1070. I did not order them a couple years ago as they were in the $1500 dollar range.

Make sure you end up with the AMP brand as there are some other immitations that are not made in the US.

I got a set of steps from Luverne that don't retract, but they have the widest step I've seen. Nice for waxing the top and prevent door dings. They're a good deal cheaper than the AMPs too.

I got mine from Geno's, well worth the $. The instructions and actual install were very easy. These are better than the rigid running boards by far. You will be happy with them.

i had dave smith dodge install mine prior to picking up my truck. well worth the money. i've had to spray lube on the joints a couple of times to keep a squeak away.
