Ams Oil for PS use

Hello everyone, I am new to the TDR but have been searching endlassly for s thread for PS fluid swap to synthetic. Has anyone swaped out the PS fluid, and iff so, does Ams-oil play well with the remianing ATF+4 remaining? I was going to remoove both the cooler lines and let her drain as others have, then refill with Ams and go... ... ... ... :-laf

Maybe its OK on a 04 but my in my 96 ATF+4 is a no no.

yeah, according to Shop manual, they stress to use ATF+4 (Mopar of course), AMSOIL Synthetic ATF supposedly meets the requirement, I just don't think I'll get it all. I didn't know if I should just replace with a semi-syn like Castrol, since they are both petro-based oils. I don't want to do any damage as the PS works great, just has a 100k on it and don't know the service history. I plan to do the "Turkey Baster" method from here out prolly ever 15k miles or so.

The seal between the power steering reservoir and the pump on my truck failed, and caused a leak. After I replaced the seal, I installed the Amsoil PS fluid, and everthing works very well. My truck calls for ATF fluid.

I used valvoline synpower PS fluid, which I have just found out has been discontinued, Good thing I bought a couple of extra bottles last time.



The valvoline synpower PS was the gold standard for awhile, not sure why it got discontinued.

Valvolene makes an ATF+4. I got some at NAPA if one of your concerns is not buying it from the dealer.

I think after the weekend I will swap out the fluid to the Ams. Is there any other preventative maint. needed on the 04 HO 305? dont wanna put $40 of oil in and have an issue down the road.

Start thinking about a spare lift pump if you haven't gone aftermarket yet.

I contacted valvoline a few days ago about the synpower ps fluid. They said their Max Life ps fluid is a synthetic blend like the synpower ps fluid.
