Amsoil 5w40?

A friend of mine sold his Jeep Liberty Diesel and has offered to give me a case of Amsoil 5w40. I have always used Shell 15w40 in my 2006 Mega Cab diesel. Any concerns about using this oil?

I wouldn't have any concerns. It's a great time of year for a slightly thinner oil. Is it CL4+ or CJ rated?

I'm not sure. It was purchased about a year ago.

Amsoil has an additive package that will really clean out your system. Do you do oil analysis? Cause you may be suprised at the results of the first test. I'm not saying it's bad stuff, I'm saying it really loosens up the junk. I'd take it for sure!

If it is a 5W40, it is the (DEO) which was intoduced for the 2008 models, which require an API CJ-4 oil. This oil is compatible with API CI-4 plus, and is a very high quality oil.

I'm running 15-40 CI+4 Amsoil. I'm happy so far but haven't used the 5W40.
