What is the easiest and correct way to clean the Amsoil Air Filter and reoil? I've cleaned hundreds of K&Ns and other foam filters, but this is the first for Amsoil. Do I use cleaner like the K&N spray bottle type? Is the Amsoil prone to what kind of detergent you use which could cause damage to foam? Also, do I put the filter oil in a spray bottle and cover one side, or both? Do you massage the oil in? I know that your not suppose to over oil, how much is too much? Sorry about these dumb questions, but no instructions came with it. The more information anyone can give me the better.

Well that is the one downside of the Amsoil air filter. I cleaned mine with dishwashing soap, and let it dry for several days. Re-oiling is a pain to get it even.

My recommendation is to just buy another one like I did. Forget the headache, order one today.

I did mine 2 weeks ago and didn't think it was that bad, but it does take a long time to dry. I threw my stocker back in for a couple days and suffered with slower spoolup.

Anyway it cleaned easily with detergent in a sink full of hot water. If you are single like me then you can get away with doing it in the kitchen. When reoiling I streamed thin bands of oil crisscrossed then massaged with fingertips and it distributed easily. I only oiled the outside, I wouldn't oil the turbo side.

I am going to order another one so I can swap back and forth every 20K or so.

I used a combo of dish soap (Dawn) and simple green solution to clean. Takes awhile to clean. Re-oiling is a real PIA. Like mentioned before, spread the oil in multiple beads across the filter then work the oil in with your fingers. I think the oil is probably too viscous to put in a spray bottle and spray on. It takes quite a bit of work to get a good even spread of oil and your fingers are most likly going to get very fatigued.

Servicing the Amsoil filter is the only pit-fall over the K&N IMO.

PS: It is probably wiser to go liberal with the oil when re-oiling to make sure oil gets dispersed throughout the entire filter foam media properly, then use a lint free cloth to dab off the extra oil when done. It is probably more detrimental to have an under- oiled filter since it will not do its job properly... . trap dirt

You can go to Amsoils web site and order them there.

Thanks guys for the information. I'm fussy when it comes to filter maintainence. I will order another one as Vaughn suggested. I did that with the K&Ns so one would always be clean. As far as the oil mess, it won't be as bad as the mess I made today. I changed the fuel filter and when I tried to start the truck after I thought the bowel was full, it wouldn't start. I thought that I had air trapped as this has never happened before. Its always started right up after priming. I loosened the banjo bolt per manual. Kicked it and went to make sure air was gone and fuel was present. **** , I didn't know that fuel could spread that far in 3 seconds. So oiling the air filter will be a piece of cake. Thanks again for the info.
