It could be your water. I live in the country and we are on a well. Our water is not to good. You don't wash your truck or anything with it,high iron, sulfur, etc. but after it goes through the water softner it is good. Never had any of my air filters rust.

I had two different Fleetguard (paper) filters as well as an XLerator foam filter... all with rusted screens. All were rusted prior to installation. Also noteworthy, the corrosion was only superficial, no pitting of the base metal was present.

I don't want to start another war over Amsoil vs K&Ns. I tried the Amsoil Air Filter and liked the way it sealed. I had been using K&Ns, but with all the controversy thought that the Amsoil would eliminate any worry. I washed the Amsoil yesterday per the instructions. This morning I went to see how dry the filter was and noticed that the wire mesh was all rusted. There was brown all in the foam. I call Amsoil Tech Center and the guy tells me don't worry it ok. He says that by the time I oil the filter the rust won't go anywhere. Right. K&Ns are now back in. Has anyone else had this problem with the mesh rusting? These things take forever to dry.

No rust here...

Are you sure it was water #ad
