I've read several posts about the differences in air filters. The pro's and con's of oiled filtration vs dry. I had originally planned on the BHAF, but got tired of waiting for the local store to get it in for me, so I went with the Amsoil filter. I made an assumption that if it's Amsoil it would be oiled correctly and no problems would be found. I was out servicing the rig this morning and decided to look at the turbo inlet for signs of oil. YEH, it was there. My question is this. If I where to wash it and then apply the new oil, is there a rule of thumb as to when enough oil is enough? I'm just looking for some advice and not trying to start up another debate on filters. Thanks

No-strokin,

When you oil that filter, you can squeze the excess oil out of it. Its kinda like a safe guard, if you can squeze drips of oil out, keep squeezing. I have had an Amsoil filter since the truck was new,it works great. Edgeman

Too much oil on the air filter is not good. When I wash mine, I make sure it is completely dry, then apply the oil in a cris-cross manner to form small squares of around one inch. Then I just use my fingers to squeeze the oil through the foam. When complete blot both sides with paper towels.

Never had a problem with excess oil. Blades on turbo are pretty clean! Now have over 139,000 on truck. 131,000 on air filter. Suggest you save the old "paper" filter to use when cleaning the foam one.
