Hi,

I'm almost ready to change over to Amsoil Universal ATF. I have heard that some of the ATF fulids may cause a slight shudder with the torque converter. Just needing some feed back from anyone using the Amsoil and how's it working in your truck.

Please include a signature of your truck, this will help greatly.

RollCast, DTT replaced my Red Line ATF+3 with Amsoil Universal ATF (+4) I provided while performing my transmission upgrade a week ago Saturday. It's working good so far. I would also like to mention that it was my decision to go with the new Amsoil synthetic ATF (I wasn't talked into it).

I've been using Amsoil since my DTT upgrades and I'm happy with it.

I've used the original Amsoil ATF and still have their ATF+4 in the trans. Works good and no problems. I have not used the newest generation ATF yet, but I would not hesititate to do so.

I got it in my transmission and transfer case. Works fine.

Too bad Amsoil does not make a product that makes the front end problems go away.

This is the kind of information I was looking for. The first time I changed the ATF, I went back with 'Aamco' ATF+3, I noticed a slight shudder(1600-1800 rpm) with the stock TC with an empty truck. Now with the DTT TC installed the shudder is still there but, you really have to 'feel' for it now. I have heard many good reports on Amsoil products, just change the rear pumpkin to Amsoil Series 2000 75w-90. I appreciate the time you took to respond to my question... ... . thanks.

I have had Amsoil Universal in my trans now for about 5 months and it is great. The shifts are smoother now and no shudder at all. I have Amsoil 75w-90 in the rear end and 15w-40 in the engine. I also use Amsoil oil and air filters. Fine products!

Amsoiled since April 2000 (the "old" +4 formula)... transmission worked good before... works good now. (when below 40*F it takes a little while to "load" the TC and stays in 3rd-gear takeoff until warmed, killed, and re-started) Does this sound like a valve sticking, or a computer "thing"?

The transmission is designed so if the ATF temperature is 40 deg F and below, it will not allow it to go to overdrive or TCC lockup.

Well I changed over to the Amsoil Universal ATF today. My shudder is now gone #ad
and things are back to normal. I never had any trouble with the factory ATF but, the Aamco(ATF+3)brand dose not work very well in my truck. I have to admitt the shifts seem a bit nicer and the temps are down 20 degrees are so. I also add a Mopar Prefomance pan while I was doing the change, this could be part of the lower temps.

Once again thanks to all that responded..... nice to have real world information.

sounds familiar... my "behavior" is no 1st or 2nd when cold... straight to 3-slip from 0mph. . I can "force" a lockup/upshift and relock from 3rd to 4th using my BD autoloc and the little remote clicker switch I added. once warmed past 40F, I can kill the engine, allow "reset" of computer and then it shifts normally... kind of annoying, but i'm sure it serves some kind of purpose. . rm
