You got basically three things... ease of use, efficiency, and mounting...

The BMK-11 can be run for extended miles (I ran mine to 30k before it started to plug), it is a spin-on element, which offers ease of use... it is also efficient to 2 micron. The elements are only available from Amsoil at around $30/filter. If you want to say you have a bypass and not need to think about it, this is the better choice.

The Frantz requires element changes between 2k and 3k miles, however it requires a little more user input to change. You have the choice of buying Frantz elements or buying TP from the local store... the elements are cheap. The Frantz is efficient to submicron levels. If you want one of the most efficient bypasses made, and aren't afraid to change filters more often, then this is the better choice.

Both mount/install about the same, and both are high quality.

There are other options besides Frantz and Amsoil, don't just set upon them without looking into the others...

any thoughts on the Spinner 2? and i like the looks of the FS2500, but man, thats alot of cash. what else is out there? i know of the Gulf Coast as well. any other ideas?

I sifted through all the bypass filter stuff a couple years ago, so many opinions, so many different choices, know where you are coming from, true headache in the decision making process.

I chose the Amsoil BMK-11. It is doing an excellent job with the soot, my oil analysis also looks better. It was easy to install, is easy to maintain. I do not care if I have to get the filters from them, get my oil, air filter, etc from them. Truth is, you have to get what you can live with, what suits your purpose, what gets the job done. All of them fit those 3 criteria for most all people in one fashion or another.

Where did you mount your filter?

I mounted my filter on the passenger side firewall. I fabbed up a bracket and attached it to the lip that extends horizontally. Since I have the Ice Box Intake, I also used a standoff off the box and clamped both hoses at the mid-point between the filter and their respective end points-billet cap and stock filter tap.

I got a new camera, will have to take a pic or two, then figure how to attach. The photo stuff is new to me, little learning process coming right up.

Even though I have a frantz, I don't think there is a poor choice between the two. The BMK-11 is a complete kit and has great filtration but at a cost of filters. The frantz uses cheap filtration at a cost of makeup oil and more frequent filter changes. Your choice, don't be afraid to look at the Gulf Coast filter either, do a search under Steved's name.

Hi All:

If anyone is interested, Deborah at wefilterit.com is still offering discounts on the Frantz filters for TDR members. I am not affiliated with her or Frantz in any way, other than being a new customer.

Cheers!

we have 12 bypass filters on 5. 9's we started out with bmk-11's , next frantz , gulf coast several home made ones and my 5th wheel hauler i mounted a 750 luberfiner i made a bracket and welded it to the rail, the mounting place i like best is high on the headache rack on the passenger side, if you make your own using large engine spin on bypass filters just make shure the orface does not exceed 0. 078" if you return the oil to the filler cap you can check flow at each oil change ,run them untill they plug except for the frantz
