I'm just curious from those of you who have the by-pass system if you think it was worth the price and how often do you change the oil and or filters?

I think its worth it, because now i change my oil and full fow filter every 10k miles and my Bypass filter every 20k miles. I am running Amsoil 5W-30 synthetic oil with sampling every 6k miles. I can actually go longer between opil changes but i am more comfortable using this schedule. The key is the oil sampling, this way you are sure you are not hurting anything. If you like changing your oil every 3-5k miles and dont mind the 20 bucks for regular oil plus the Fleetguard filter, then the Amsoil dual bypass is a waste of money, its only worthwhile if you want to extend your intervals. Also, if you are going to get a setup, be sure and get the "CPFF" custom mount, block adaptor and braided lines. The install will be simple with no cutting or fabrication anything, just bolt it in and go. Takes about 45 minutes or less to install with simple hand tools.

Bypass Filter System

I really like the oil analysis report I got after running my Amsoil system. Less then half the norm for all metals.

I took the system off when the engine compartment crowded up with a second turbo:D I'm changing to a different turbo configuration whick will allow room for the bypass system to be reinstalled.

I used to change the engine mounted filter at the regular 5000 interval, and the bypass filter every other oem filter change.

The bypass filter kit isn't very expensive IMO, and I really like the concept and the results.

I installed the dual remote bypass system a while ago. I've got about 30K miles on the oil now and analysis says to keep running it. I change the full flow filter every 10K or so and both filters every 20K.

Considering that's six oil changes I haven't done, the whole setup is getting close to paying for itself.

Side benefits include less wear and improved fuel economy.

No change - Almost 2 years now.

Add about 1 quart of make up oil every 3k. Sample at 15k. Go with the single bypass mount. Put it horizontal on the back side of the (front) radiator crossmember.

Is there a FAQ anywhere for the dual bypass system? Searching here is a pain because so many people have "amsoil dual bypass" listed in their signatures. :) My truck is at 14k now, and I'll be doing my 2nd Rotella change at 15k (going with the standard 7. 5k changes with Rotella and a stratapore filter). At 22. 5k I'm going to make the decision on what kind of synthetic and filter system to use. Figure it should be broken in by then.

I also have installed the Dual Bypass and love it. I change my oil every 7k and am changing the oil filter along with it and changing the bypass filter at 21k...

I'm getting ready to put one on the wifes 2k1. 5 also.

One more question. . Is waiting till 22. 5k too long to convert to synthetic/amsoil? I just saw that amsoil engine flush stuff and it got me wondering if I'd be better off converting at 15k.

I think it says alot for a product to get that many positive replies :D , besides anything that works for HVAC at his level of tune should work great at my lowly 350 horses. I ordered the BMK-15 and the 5w-30 heavy duty diesel oil, it should be here in a few days. Does anyone know how much CPFF gets for his mounting system and line kit?

I've had the Amsoil Dual-Remote system on mine for 1-1/2 yrs. Also have Amsoil air filter. Change Fleetguard fuel filter @ 15000 mile intervals. Made my own mount to locate the Amsoil Dual-Remote filter head next to the passenger side battery. Just installed CPFF's billet adapter & SS lines ($150) and ABSOLUTELY recommend them. Work MUCH better that the Amsoil cast aluminum adapter & rubber hoses - NO leaks at all. Looks trick & fits great. I've got about 80000 miles on the oil now. Change Fullflow filter at 10000 mile and Bypass filter at 20000 mile intervals. Been running same Amsoil 15w40 since 40000 and sample oil at 20000 mile intervals and keeps looking o. k.

Swithing to Synthetic at 15k miles hould be fine, if you want to wait longer, that is fine too, just dont wait much longer then 50k miles.

Amsoil Dual Remote Bypass system

I too have the Amsoil Dual Remote Bypass oil filtration system. I have had it installed now for almost a year and the only thing that could be better is if I had purchased it before I did!. I fabricated my own billet aluminum filter mount adapter that attaches same to the frame crossmember (the filters are horizontal with a 10 degree downward facing slope to the rear). In addition, I also purchased the trick billet aluminum block adapter from "CPFF", fabricating my own Aeroquip Teflon/braided stainless steel lines and Aeroquip steel fittings.

I switched to the Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 at the same time I added my bypass system. So far I have adopted the following interval: sample and full flow filter change at 7. 5k, sample and change both filters and oil at 15k. I know it seems as though I'm dumping the oil and changing the filters too soon, however convoluted, I feel better about doing it this way... for now. I'm also considering the possibility of changing back to Amsoil 15W-40 HDD&M... changing both filters and oil at 10k. After comparing financial calculations of my current method with my proposed method it seems the two are virtually dead equal to one another.

..... still wondering out loud
