amsoil bypass dual remote filters

I had a amsoil dual remote bypass filter system installed yesterday and had the installer put in amsoil 15-40 synthetic as well. My engine was real quiet when I dropped it off, but now it has a fairly loud hum at all levels of rpm. My thinking is that it is hooked up backwards, but the filters are warm to the touch, so they are getting circulation. The system was installed on the frame right below the front passenger door. The frame was drilled and tapped to accept the bolts and then tightend down. The hoses are run from the filter adapter through heavy rubber tube to shield from the engine and any other components that could rub the hoses into. My question is to the tdr members

Has anyone had this system installed and had the same sound, or could something else be wrong? all help and comments greatly appreciated. Milage now is 9859 miles... see sig for other info. . gary

I have an 01 and you can hear it. You can try isolating it a bit. Some have put a sheet of rubber material between it and the frame. The rubber check for it at home depot in the plumbing dept about 1sf in size about 1/8 or a bit less thick. Mine is not on the frame and I dont really hear it like others have stated but can hear it a bit. .

I suggest you do a search. Many members with 3rd gens also have had the hum, when mounting in remote locations. The problem is that the vibrations/pulsations from the oil pump are going down the lines and it's resonating through the frame etc. No amount of sound deadener, rubber spacers, or anything else will solve this - believe me I know from experience. Your filters are not installed incorrectly.



I couldn't live with the hum - some can. It's probably less noticeable on the noisier 2nd gens.



To solve the hum, you must mount to the block, where the vibrations/noises are cancelled out, as they are with the stock oil filter.



Contact TDR member CPFF/John Strenkowski. He makes a sweet billet mount kit that bolts into predrilled holes in the block (read plug and play, complete bolt on no drilling). He also has a billet oil filter adapter, as well as pre-cut stainless steel hoses. Check my reader's rigs for pics of the mount. . This will solve your hum problem. I know you probably didn't want to hear that you need to buy a new mount and move the setup, but this is the answer to your hum issue. Hope this helps.
