Willys, send me a picture also, where does the return go? do you have to cut a R&R the oil pan to put a hole in it for the return?

Here are two pic's of my bypass setup. I run a single filter and a full flow in the stock location.

I preferred the adaptor to the oil fill cap. It's about 12 extra and I brought a new cap to have as a spare to replace the modified one. You have to make the ratchet inoperable. With the return in the cap you can observe the flow and draw an oil sample with no mess. This is a picture of my set up on the return, I have more pics on photopoint.

Any questions email me.

I am running a single bypass with the full flow in the stock location.
I mounted the bypass on the back side of the front frame crossmember in a horizontal position so nothing sticking down. I then had a local Parker fitting shop make up some steel braided lines (had a bad hose experience once-long story) and covered them with split convoluted tube. (stealth approach-also keeps from chafing holes in everything) The return line is run into the fill tube at the front of the engine just below the cap. This allows for easy inspection of bypass flow. In hind sight, the cap location might be better because I have to undo the fitting to get a sample. On the other hand, I don't know it's there the rest of the time...

my system is a dual bypass . . the ones here are single bypass... the dual filter [there is a full flow and the bypass filter] goes back via a steel braided line to a replacement head that replaces the origional filter head on the block. . I have a trick billet aluminum adapter, that one of out fellow TDR guys makes. . better than the one Amsoil supplies. . AN fittings and Steel braided hoses to and from the fittings... mounts over the battery via a Ted Kidd bracket. . very sturdy and a sano set up

Wow...

There are some nice installs out there. My next change I will probably get hold of one of you. I am gonna save a link to this post.

Cooker,
Here is a link to a post where I asked about drain intervals. Lots of opinions on how often to change filters, etc.

My site and e-mail are below. I've got nothing but great feedback from my customers. The bracket is made of aluminum and is black anodized. It replaces the top battery strap so there is no chance of corrosion from being underneath.

These are all good ideas, but with a little injun-nuity you can make your own mounting bracket for about $20 or less. I went to a place in Sacramento called Blue Collar supply that sells surplus hardware and metals. For $10. 00 (including cutting to size)I bought two pieces 3/8" aluminum that look very similar to the pics submitted except for the fins and had a friend heli-arc them and just drilled the hole for mounting a single by-pass filter; that's what I have. You just replace the existing battery hold down with your "new" bracket and you can even paint it if you want.

This is all well and good. In my case, however, I did not want all that dynamic weight being held by the battery. Batteries are fragile enough; I didn't want to chance the weight flexing and weakening the battery case, thus causing premature replacement of the battery. That's why I designed mine around the battery.

Cooker,
To answer your question regarding "How often you change the ByPass filter (single Bypass)?" In my case, I use oil analysis, and when the analysis comes back telling me to change the filter/filters I do it. In 105,000 miles of using this data, I changed filters two times, once at 75,000 and then when I changed everything at 105,000 and installed the 5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesl oil.

fest3er,
Batterys are anything but fragile. I have handle many traffic accidents and I can't even remember the time I saw one that got damaged. And not counting lttle fender benders. The brackets length and width distibute the weight accross the top of the battery. With it being a single peice design there is no chance of bolts coming loose or corroding.

I've mounted my single unit horizontally on the croos member beneath the radiator, passenger side. (I have an aux. trans. filter on the other side). I built a skid plate underneath them for protection. I used braided stainless hose, and i cut a notch in the rib on top of my filler cap for the swivel fitting for the return line. It is a lot easier to get anoil sample there than at the drain cock on the filter.
