I recently purchased the amsoil bypass system, now I am looking for ideas on mounting locations. Thanks for any help/ideas. How long will this install take?

bypass install

Well there are two main locations, next the passenger side battery and under the engine on the cross memeber. A lot of message threads on this one so just do a search. Several threads posted pictures of the various installs and gave preety good idea of the pros and cons.

I just mounted my bypass filter(10/20/01) on the engine under the exhaust manifold . I fabricated a bracket out of alumiumn plate 1/4" to bolt on the two bosses, one with a stud and a spacer of about 3/4" . The stud also goes through the bypass filter housing. :D Unfortnatly this location will not work with an automatic, I have a 6spd. Now I am trying to figure out a good location for an automatic out the way and easy to service.

TCook:

I located mine on the passenger side of the block. If you look on this side of the motor you will find a cover on the flywheel houseing that looks like it is a cover for a starter. I built a bracket to mount to the bypass filter houseing and to align with the two holes in that cover. When mounted, the bottom of the filters are just at the bottom of the frame. I used two 45's on each hose, from the filter houseing,to the stock filter location, this alowed for very straight and short hose runs. The filters are out of the way, and are not hard to get to, and best of all you don't spill oil all over your motor when changeing!

:p
