I switched over to Amsoil 10K miles ago. I am using the Fleetguard filters still and I changed it at 5K and topped off with oil.

How long are you running your amsoil? I am trying to decide if I should change the oil now or just the filter. I am going to send in an analysis, maybe I should do that before I change anything.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks, Joe

I changed mine at 15K miles. That was about 1 year for me at the time. Now that I only drive my truck on the weekends :( it's going to take me much longer before I have to change it. If you do an oil analysis, you could be going a long time before needing to change it.

I run mine 10-12k, swap out the filter, top off, go another 10-12 k, drop all the oil and a new filter. Also, change out the fuel filter at every oil filter change, along with cleaning out and reoiling the air filter.

On my 2001 I always ran 20,000 miles, using stock (stratapore) filters. I'd change the oil & filter, then change the filter 2 times in between oil changes (about every 7-8k miles). I sampled every 10k miles and numbers were always very good, except for when I tried 5w30 Amsoil once (that's another subject).

If I have time tomorrow I am going to change the filter. There will be 5k on the filter and 10k on the oil. I am also going to send in an analysis.

I run the amsoil 15-40 and stratpore filters. I change the filter around 5k and again at 10k then oil and filter at 15k or there abouts. I have it sampled and have always had a good report and this over 450k on two different trucks.
