I was considering getting the Amsoil Dual Bypass setup but was curious if the Fleetguard filters provide the same amount of filtration? Is it worth getting the Amsoil setup or are the fleetguards just as good? Thanks in advance for the info!
EMDDIESEL - I'm not really sure what this dual bypass setup actually looks like - do you have any photos or more info? What does CPFF charge for the setup? I'm not interested in extending my oil change interval, will I benefit much by going with this setup? I do like the idea of putting the filter in a different location.Originally posted by EMDDIESEL
FleetGuard makes great filters, but it will never filter as good as a bypass filter. A bypass filter goes down to 1 micron, Full flow filters are about 20 microns. Thats why you cant just use a 1 micron filter on you truck, you will never have any oil pressure. A byapss system is great especailly if you want to stretch you oil change intervals. So to answer your question, No, a Fleet Guard filter can not come close to a Bypass setup.
The bypass sytem filters a small amount at a time. You can get just a bypass filter and keep your Fleet Guard filter in the stock location. But you will need to tap an oil pressure port for supply to the Bypass and a return.
The dual bypass makes everything simple, both filters together, away from the engine and the fact that the dual bypass unit itself is a big piece of Billet aluminum, it acts like a heat exchanger and helps cool the oil. You just screw on the block adaptor to install it, thats it, no special fittings or drilling and tapping anywhere. It also makes filter chages easier to by having them out of the way of everything. I got my dual Bypass plus a battery mount and an amazing block adaptor from TDR member CPFF. he also has pre sized Braided Stainless lines to go with it. He builds the stuff himself and his work is incredible, you have to see it to believe it. If you are going to do it, talk to CPFF his stuff makes the installation simple and absolutley bulletproof.
