Amsoil Ea Air filter? True Flow Foam air filter?

My brother bought the drop in Amsoil Ea airfilter, the blue one, I think it is micro fiber or something, supposed to be really good. He has the same truck as me, but a 6 spd 2wd, anyway, he installed it about 3k miles back, and his filter minder is down around a third to half way. I popped out the filter and it looked really clean. I bought the True Flow foam air filter for my truck a long time ago, I have probably put close to 20k on the filter and my filter minder has hardly moved a couple MM, I pulled it out recently and it was packed with gunk and dirt. End result is that the True Flow flows better even packed with dirt than the Amsoil with almost no dirt. I still haven't cleaned the True Flow, because my filter minder is still at the top of the green.

Stick with the True Flow. Amsoil claims to be the best at every thing. I Have had two cummins and two true flows. When you spend months on dirt roads in the plains of colorado with no trace of anything on the "out" side of the filter or box, can't get any better than that. And for a reasonable price too. That little guage does mean a lot. If it is pulling into the red than you are not getting goog flow. Simple as that.

I have the amsoil in my 06 and tomarrow its going bye bye being replaced with an AFE super stock, I have a bout 35k on the filter of 99. 9% pavement driving in 11 months and its pulling the filter minder down to the red and I can tell my truck isn't happy about it. 50 to 60 bucks for a filter that only last 35k just dosen't cut it.

Well if I were you, I'd send it back to Amsoil if you are'nt satisfied. It is Gauranteed for 100,000/4 years. They will stand behind the warranty!

Same here. I've had both filters and the tru-flow had great uoa results in the silicon department but was hard to clean. Amsoil is easy to clean and no oil.

When I got my 05, I made the mistake of getting an Airraid dropin.

After 8000 miles, I pulled it to check the condition of the filter.

The prefilter material had been pulled into the pleats of the filter.

None made it to the intake.

I junked that and got a Amsoil and couldnt be happier with it.

The minder hasnt moved at all and with the Airraid it was pulled about 1/4 of the way down.

Im very happy with the Amsoil but then I guess its to each his own.

The True Flow filter has worked great so far. No dirt making it into my oil analysis, after filter is clean, filter minder has not moved since installation about 15,000 miles ago. Original paper filter pulled the minder down about 1/4 inch at around 8-9,000 miles. I have not cleaned the true flow yet... I have the cleaning and reoiling kit, hope it cleans up w/o too much trouble. For $35 it was worth a shot... very happy with the results.

The Service Manager at Cummins SW in Albuquerque tells me that the best air filters are the Fleetgaurd or Mopar stock.

The mian problem with the stock paper style is restriction, now maybe it just me but when my 06 only had 1000 miles on it the stock filter had the filter minder down to 75% and that just dosen't cut it, now it could be also the sirbox sucks aswell and I fixed that aswell. I like the amsoil for how well it does truly clean but it theres a happy medium to be found. I have been thinking about a bigger universal filter like an afe or so feeding in to the stock box with amsoil ea in it but how much it would hurt airflow i haven't figured out yet.

I have true flow airfilter for a few years now. I just hit 80,000. That filter catches everything. No regrets at all... . ! true flow rocks... .

Maybe with 35,000 Miles, I wolud try cleaning it . Book says to clean filter every 25,000 Miles. Real easy to clean. IMO.

I don't think that is the case, the True Flow is a cellular foam that is mostly air, it can store more dirt than any other type of filter, and still flow as well as it does when it is clean. I don't have any affiliation with them I just saw the videos on thier website and was pretty much convinced that they are better than K&N and all other gauze filters. Check thier website, I think they have tests that show that it traps much smaller particles than other filters and keeps your oil much cleaner. So maybe the Amsoil is trapping alot of micro particles and keeping tiny dirt particles out of the engine and oil like the True Flow, but it can't flow like the True Flow once it gets loaded with dirt, it starts to restrict the intake system.
