Please dont reply if you are an AMSOIL dealer. I have 40 K on my 98 4x4 was going to drain the transmission and put AMSOIL in. The problem I have is that my drive line is still under warranty and am wondering if anyone had an experience with Amsoil in the transmission and Chrysler not standing behind the transmission.

Also considering using Amsoil in my engine, again have the same fear.

I have used synthetics in my Chev. gas truck when it was out of warranty and in the lower units of all my outboard motors and swear by them. Just curious how a warranty claimm would be handled. l CAUTIOUS.

This topic is of interest and applies to all diesel trucks - and even to other applications as well. This topic would be best discussed in the product forum. For your convenience, I'm moving it there and closing this thread.

Thanks
Mark

I don't think you'll get any posts on your questions, because, I don't know any one who uses Amsoil that isn't a dealer. Thats due to the price break you get. I am a dealer, because I use Amsoil in everything. It would cost to much money paying full price. They have transmission fluid made just for Dodge. I use the best engine oil they got. Series 3000 5w-15w heavy duty diesel motor oil. I put it in at 12,000miles and I have about 70,000 on it now. I was worried about about Chrysler covering my truck as well. Thats the only reason why I don't have a came plate in yet. YOU ARE YOUR OWN WARRANTY !!! Have you ever read that before? Anyway, I'm not the one to list how and why you are covered. I'm just some guy that happens to like Amsoil quality and I like getting it at whole sale price. Other than that, I can't wait for my odomitter to turn over that 100,000 miles mark, then I'm going to be into B. O. M. B. ing.

Hi Stanman
I have used Amsoil 15W40 synthetic for the last 104,000 miles and have done an oil analysis at each oil change. The results are the same at 116,000 miles as at 12,000 miles. The recomendation for the analysis was that the oil was preforming flawlessly. I change oil at 6,000 miles amd use Fleetguard oil filters. I also use Amsoil synthetics in my Cetrag and the rear diff all analized and working very well. As long as the product you use meets or exceeds Dodges recomendations you should be OK. I went to the analysis due to previous experience with them while running a maintenance dept. and as a hedge against Dodge. Hope this helps.

Stanman,
Makes no difference if I am an Amsoil dealer or not. ANY OIL OR LUBRICANT that MEETS or EXCEEDS the OEM REQUIREMENTS can be used without effecting warranty!!

Warranties only cover defective parts and workmanship, period!!

Bob/Oilman - Why the different viscositys of the Amsoil diesel oils (5-15 vs 15-40)? The 5-15 seems awfull thin?

Dane,
Are you sure that Amsoil has a 5w15 and not a 5w30? The reason that the engine manufactures recommend different oil viscosities is for temperature difference. The viscosity recomendations are;

Dodge diesel CH-4
Above 10 deg F. use 15w-40
0 to 30 deg F. use 10w-30
-10 to 0 deg F. 10w-30 with block heater
1990 to 1998 Below o deg F. 5w-30 sythetic
1999 Below 20 deg F 5w-30 synthetic

Sincerely, Kevin

Looks like there are two oil guys (Oil Man and oilman) Oil Man is from Lubrication Engineers and oilman is the other one.

Hey Oil Man,
I was talking to an Amsoil person tonight and he recommended using their "Series 3000 5W-30" Engine Oil all of the time. I live in Arizona and as you have heard it does get rather warm here. Should I use this or a different type, ie. 15W-40
Any info would help alot, thanks!!

Sparky10,
Since you're asking my opinion then I can talk about it. Dodge and Cummins says to use oils for different temps.

Diesel CH-4
Above 10 deg F 15w-40
0 to 30 deg F 10w-30
-10 to 0 deg F 10w-30 with bolck heater
1990 to 1998 Below 0 deg F 5w-30 synthetic
1999-2000 Below 20 deg F 5w-30 synthetic

I would recommend a 15w-40 for your temps. I know the Amsoil guys will say that their oil is so good that you can run it at all temps. Although I believe that their oil is better than most I also believe that the 5w-30 is too thin for your temps. Stick with the 15w-40.

Sincerely, Kevin

Stanman, if you want to see Amsoil products on the self come into town on 17 and go to Mouse's motorcycle shop, he carries Amsoil and can get you whatever you want. Its next to the Bicycle Shop. Regards Pete
