I use Amsoil in my truck and it's time to change it. (20K miles on this change) I added one can of Amsoil engine flush and high idled it for 3 -4 minutes and I looked down and my "check engine" light was on! (directions say to high idle for 15 - 20 minutes) I shut it off and went ahead and let the oil drain out. I usually let it drain all night so I know the crankcase and everything has had time to really drip down and clean out. Why did the engine flush make that light come on? Any ideas? I hope it's off tomorrow when I refill it with new oil... . Thanks for your time! JH

You are flushing after using Amsoil for 20,000??? If you are, you do not need to.

The flush is designed to cut the sludge from those wonderful old standby petroleum oils.

Putting it in with Amsoil may leave you with a very thin oil. Call their tech line to be sure.

I have flushed an amazing variety of engines and was nervous only once.
It was a VW engine on a sawmill that had been DURALUBED (blech!) before I bought it!
At 15 minutes the oil pressure started to drop, not enough for damage, but enough to watch closely!
After I put Amsoil in it, it went back to normal and has run fine ever since.

What was the oil pressure gauge reading?
If it was in the specs for engine 25 psi to ? or where ever your oil pressure is at usually at high rpms engine be OK.
I think MGM is correct, flush could of made oil a little thin decreasing your oil pressure.
I used to flush 7. 5L(460 c. i. ) with trans fluid(3qts fluid + 2-3qts cheap oil) and oil pressure would run lower than usual.
Check engine lite should deal with electrical/electronic components failure or readings. Oil warning light should of went on if pressure was below normal specs.
