AMSOIL engine flush.........

Changed over my 06 to the 15/40 synthetic. . great results. Engine is SOOOO quiet now... and it was quiet before...





GOing to switch over the 96 CTD to the same oil. WIth 104,000 it was recommended I Flush the engine first. If I am understanding the directiosn correctly, it says to CHANGE THE OIL FILTER FIRST, then add the FLush, then idle for 15-20 min, THEN CHANGE THE FILTER AGAIN??? SO I am supposed to use up 2 filters??? Just wanting to make sure... WHy couldn't you use the flush with the current filter??? Thanks!!

Let me help you out. The engine flush procedure will remove a lot of built up sludge from your "96" CTD. Therefore, you need to purchase a "cheap" oil filter to use during this twenty minute, Fast Idle, flush procedure.

You certainly don't want your "Good" ,New, oil filter clogged up with sludge deposits. Warm your truck up to operating temperature, remove existing oil filter, install new "Cheap" filter, add (2) TWO Bottles of Engine Flush, One bottle is only good for five quarts.

Run engine on fast idle for twenty minutes, (Do Not Drive Vehicle) Now your ready to drain the oil. I usally let mine drip for several hours before I procede with the oil change. Good luck !!

How do I find out if I need to flush first or not? I've got about 61k or so on my truck and want to switch everything over to Amsoil. 6-spd, diffs and eng. oil. I was also told they had an additive for the 6-spd that will cut down the chattering? Any good?

I just talked to AMSOIL this morning and they said to " Take it for a spin" after I install the Flush. Weird!!!! LOLOL But thanks for the Advice. I have all day Sunday so I will do it as recommended...

Wow, I certainly would NOT do that!!!

Roper, another thing too, limit your first oil change on the synthetic to 5000 miles, then after that whatever you're comfortable with. 10,000 miles is a good cycle if you don't sample, 20,000 or more if you do.

There's a big difference between oil being thinned and no oil at all. Think about this. If you have some fuel in you oil, it dilutes it, but you're probably not going to see significant damage in 20 minutes, especially at a 10:1 ratio.



Who at AMSOIL said to drive it? Website says to idle 15-20 minutes.

I called the Tech line to verify that I did in fact read the part about changing the filter FIRST before adding the Flush... SO then I just said " So after I change the filter and add the Flush I'll let it sit and Idle a while" ANd the reply was " Or just take it for a spin". Glad I ck on here!!!



I did not do the flush on my 06 and was told by many on here and my regular mechanic that I didn't need it because my Engine was so new. I was also given the go ahead by my Mechanic to put the Synthetic in at 8,000 because I had towed quite a bit and towed hard. They said my rings, etc were well seated and ready to go... Oo.

Anything below 20,000 miles usually doesn't need flushed, according to AMSOIL.

I would also like to know who in AMSOIL told you to take it for a spin! All AMSOIL training I have attended they consistently stated not to drive the vehicle after the flush is installed, just idle the engine for 15-20 minutes with the air conditioner on or defroster.
