ATS Manifolds give lower EGT's??

LE-607 as NV4500 lube?

MGM,
It's not just the EP properties of the LE oil that makes it so much better than the Amsoil product. The LE 607 only has about 12% more EP additive than the Amsoil product does. How do you explain the 30. 33 times less wear with only 12% more extreme pressure additive MGM? Thats right it has to be more than just the EP package. I cannot and will not devulge the formula that LE uses to make such a good product, so it looks like you will be driving a long way just to buy yourself lunch.

I'd love to sell Amsoil---when they come out with a gear oil that is better than LE's

If you want to talk smack, the LE 75w-140 is better for wear, VI, low temp, High temp, etc. But the LE 607 outperformes the LE 75w140 for wear also. I recommend the LE 607 for temps from -10 amb. to 230 deg F. Above or below that I recommend the LE 9920 75w140 synthetic.

Have a nice lunch.

Kevin

Kevin,
I should have explained myself more, I thought you knew.
June 9 and 10 is a BIG Diesel Rally in Muncie, put on by Daves Diesel. There will be a sled pull, dyno runs, a drag race, swap meet, and a vendor ally.
This will be a great place to do some comparisons!
Do you think changing lubes would show a difference at the drag strip? Or maybe the Dyno? A few of us may be pulling covers also, just for kicks.
Turning out to be a cold winter in the Northeast, I feel sorry for the guys running straight 90 w!! #ad

I'll be at Muncie anyway, disspelling myths, so if you can't make it, I will be coming to California to collect on that lunch you offered!
Did you just say you recommend the 607 from minus 10?? I thought your pour point was minus 11? I thought you needed to add 20 to 30 degrees to the pour point to get WORKING temperature. Does this mean the 607 is normal till minus 11 and then just stops flowing?
JMHO, based on fact: At minus 10, your 607 has thickened up to the point where it will barely drip, let alone flow freely, and the ring gear will be channeling right through the lube and not be protected until it warms up. And you need that heat to activate the extra 12% EP additives to get that 33 times wear scar bit.

Sorry Muncie is a bit far from CA and I'll have my kids for vacation then anyway. So you can just go ahead and start disspelling myths. Wave your wan over their trucks and tell them the Amsoil bedtime story. We will continue to use the better oil LE 607 or LE 9920. Both of them outperform the Amsoil 75w90 and 75w140.

Sincerely, Kevin

oilman,

How about posting some independent lab test results. Has there been any tests comparing LE and Amsoil? Where industry standard tests used? Sometimes different tests/standards are used which makes it hard to compare apples to apples. I would like to see some actual numbers and then make my own conclusions.

1tuffram,
E-mail me on your request. I'd be glad to go over with you any questions that you have as to the ASTM tests and so on.

HEY, this may not be the right thread - but lube comparisons are ALWAYS interesting to me! #ad
