About two months ago I changed the rear lube to Amsoil series 2000 75-140. I did the figure eights and all was quiet from the limited slip. Now I am hearing a slight popping or chatter in left hand turns and when I hook up my 8000 lb boat with 600 lb tounge weight a loud chatter in left turns. Does this sound like I need to add a little additive? Right now the limited slip hooks up great,I do not even have to use 4 wheel on the ramps. How much wear will a little chatter do on the clutches? I am thinking of adding maybe 1/2 bottle of Mopar friction modifier, but hate to give up my good hook up.

I run Amsoil Series 2000 75-140 in my rear axle, and after about 10,000 miles, I had to add a couple of bottles of the Mopar Additive to quiet it down. It took more because of the Mag-Hytec cover. I have nearly 28,000 miles on the oil now and no more noise. I checked the fluid level yesterday and oil looks just like it did when I poured it in.

Rock, I too am using Amsoil Series 2000 75W-140. So far I haven't had to add any additional friction modifier however, I've only had it in the rear diff. for about a week and a half (I switched over from Amsoil Series 2000 75W-90). I would caution the amount of friction modifier you add... at least all at once. Start out by adding 2 oz. and drive around with that for several days to see if that works, adding 2 oz. more as the situation dictates. I know it's more time consuming however, it has proven to me to be a more accurate method of tuning the LSD characteristics than driving in circles :p (I mean figure eights). If you add too much friction modifier you will have reduced to no LSD performance depending upon the amount added.

I just changed my rear diff and put in Valvoline 75W-90. I added no friction modifier and everything sounds fine. I would have used Amsoil but i needed it in a hurry.
