I have mine mounted horizontally along the outside of the frame rail under the front passenger side. I also made a diamond plate shield to help protect from rocks thrown up by the tires that make it past the mud flaps. I have had this set up for 3-5 years with no issues.

My opinion until your warranty is gone I would not exceed 15K on changes. So that alone would make me wonder if the Bi-Pass is worth doing?

I have excellent reports using the FleetGuard filters and AMZ/OIL Full Synthetic 15-40 sticking to the 15K changes.

That's where mine is on my 05 and on dads 06. He just bought a '17 and it will likely go in that same spot too.

The smallest EaBP is rated for 60K miles so you could use it for more than one oil change. IIRC Amsoil said you can use it for up to 2 full oil changes.

Frame rail mounted vertically so the oil doesn't spill when removing. Passenger side a little forward of the steering/axle/suspension.

It's under and forward of the full flow OEM filter.

Even stratopore doesn't filter to 2-5 microns. Stratopore is 15 microns at best.
That's why I went with the amsoil bypass. Never intended to extend drain intervals. Just looking for the best filtration.
Every 20-25 mins it filters nearly your entire sump at highway speeds

I'm pondering doing this to my truck,.. Pressure from the port on top of the OEM filter receiver? And dump it in the port in the rear of the block? [pass side] Where some folks run there oil return line on a twin turbo kit... I dont like the return through the oil fill cap.

This is also why I did it.

I have mine returned through the fill cap. I did upgrade the lines to steel braided to help protect them from wear. A side benefit is it is easy to get an oil sample from the return by just unscrewing the cap and letting it flow into a sample bottle.

Good point, thank you.

I am planning on getting a Wix filter head just like I got for my Aux-fuel filter.

Any advise on what brand/model spin-off filter to get?

The problem with that plan is there isn't a filter worth using as a bypass filter. Many have searched and tried but in the end you wont get the filtration benefits without a dedicated bypass filter.

I've heard of people using fuel filters as bypass oil filters but they plug much quicker so you end up spending the same money on filters and makeup oil per mile.

Been using AMZ/OIL products since the mid 70's with good results but IMHO some of their products are not worth the expense.

Amsoil is finally making an oil that competes with Redline diesel 15w 40.

They have a new one for diesel that is 20w 50 called dominator.

The higher film strength on this one sounds good?

So will a bypass system stop the oil from turning so black so fast?

I don't think so. But I don't worry about the color if my oil. Most soot is sub micron which won't be filtered with any filter. But I think getting the soot particles out that are 5 microns or greater can be beneficial to your engine. The amsoil bypass does a pretty good job down to 2 microns.

something I've always wondered was why Cummins doesn't offer their combination oil filters for the ISB. we've used these for years on our Cummins ISM's. https://www.cumminsfiltration.com/s...6034AU Venturi Combo Lube Filter Brochure.pdf

I've seen (online) their venturi products when searching for options. But yeah. I doubt it is as easy to install (would require mods?) as amsoil. However the cummins is easier to install a bypass on because of the ports in the top of the filter arm.

On other vehicles you need a wye adapter to install at the pressure port.

Bypass is popular with cummins owners. I love my amsoil bypass.

I think bypass oil filters are popular with Internet Cummins owners who use social media, I've never seen one anywhere but on the internet.

even the heavy duty side of the industry has went away from bypass ( aka dual) oil filtration. used to be everything we ran had dual filtration, came from factory like that.
