I am getting ready to switch my truck over to amsoil with their dual by-pass filter system. I would like to know which oil filter you guys think is better amsoil or fleetguard. I can get both for the same price. Thanks in advance.

I think you are supposed to use the AMSOIL filters on the Dual bypass. I believe that those are the filters that fit on correctly.

These are however, Beliefs. I'm not positively sure. I will be following this post closely. I'll be getting CPFF's dual bypass setup later this month. :)

Sixspeed,

If you are going to use the "Duel-remote" (BMK-15) By-pass, you will have to use the SDF-26 ("Full-Flow") and the BE-100 ("By-Pass")that come with the kit. If you elect to use the "Single-Remote" (BMK-11) By-pass Mount, you can use any "Full-flow" element at the OEM location, including the "Fleetgaurd" The "Full-Flow" element that Amsoil produces is the SDF-80, and it too can be used at the OEM location on engine block.

Hope this helps,

Wayne

I am an Amsoil fan, but you should know that the use of any filter not listed in the recent DC bulletin may void the warranty of your Cummins engine. You can use the Amsoil bypass filter, but not the full flow filter. Your dealer should have the bulletin posted, if not, email me and I'll mail it to you.

The SDF-80 is safe to use on the new engine. It will filter finer and hold more dirt than the Fleetgard, and is plenty strong for this app.

The Stratapore is getting close, but if you have found the 80 for the same price, there is no contest.

I doubt very much they tested the Amsoil filter, or if they even know about it.

Amsoil has a warranty, so there is no reason to worry anyway.
