When I changed over to Amsoil heavy duty , I noticed my engine temperature raised about 10 degrees and has been consistently hotter since (4 months). I had been running Rotella and may switch back to it befor I go on vacation. Any ideas? I know this sounds weird. Thanks.

Let's see, the seasons turned to spring about 4 months ago, been gettin' noticably warmer here too, especially with the A/C on. You're right, it sounds weird, I wouldn't expect any temperature difference between oil and synthetic under everyday conditions.

Did you get the bypass filter at the same time? Is it connected exactly right, i. e. not causing any restriction?

I've owned the truck for 8 years and am quite familliar with the seasonal changes and the overall effect it has on this particular vehicle. I noticed the change before I got around to installing the bypass filter. The change may be less than 10 degrees (5??) as I'm just judging from the position of the guage needle. Perhaps the sensor has changed slightly. I had thought perhaps the synthetic oil was thermally more efficient collecting and dumping more heat to the cooler. When I picked up our travel trailer yesterday, I saw it creeping up past 190 for the first time. Perhaps time for a rad flush.
